Amir Usmānī (30 November 1920 – 13 April 1975) was an Indian Muslim scholar, author, critic, humorist, satirist and a poet, who belonged to Usmani family of Deoband.[1]
Early life[edit]
Born in 1920 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, British India, Amir Usmani was an alumnus of Darul Uloom Deoband. He was cousin brother of great Islamic Scholar Shabir Ahmad Usmani. His father Matloob-u-Alam, was an engineer by profession.
Education and career[edit]
After finishing his early education from Deoband in 1938, he started the monthly magazine “Tajali” in Urdu.[2] He was also a student of Jigar Moradabadi where he learned Ghazals. His multifaceted career encompassed roles as an insightful critic, humorist, and satirist, leaving a lasting impact on the cultural and intellectual landscape.[3]
Political career[edit]
Amir Usmani being a Deobandi scholar defended Maulana Abul A'la Maududi after writing his book “Khilafat o Malukiyat”. To answer the criticism on Maulana Maududi's book Tafheemul Quran, he not only defended his writings but also wrote his own book “Tafheem-ul-Quran Per Aitirazaat Ki Ilmi Kamzorian”[4] to answer all those who critics.[5][6]
According to poet Mahir ul Qadri wrote that “Moulana Aamir was an ocean of knowledge".

Death[edit]
On April 13, 1975, he died in Pune, Mahrashtra after reading an Islamic poem “Khawab Jo Bikhar Gaye.”
