Alex Theory (born July 4, 1980) is an American inventor, entrepreneur, and musical artist from San Francisco, California. He is the inventor of a multi-sensory virtual reality wellness experience[1] that was launched by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in 2019.[2] This immersive mixed reality technology called the Vessel[3] integrated the presentation of comprehensive sensory environments with real-time, physiological data to enable the generation of engaging, dynamic, closed-loop experiences.[4] The Vessel technology was created as a way to combat rising levels of stress, fatigue, anxiety, depression and other issues that people face around the world.[5] The technology integrated aromatherapy, sound and music therapy, vibroacoustic therapy, virtual reality, biofeedback, neurofeedback, meditation, and other modalities into a singular experience[6] that allowed guests to see, hear, smell, feel, and touch sensations of nature.[7]

Career[edit]

In 2008, Theory founded the Global Sound Conference, a symposium that brought together key individuals from the music, film and television industries with pioneers in the areas of sound healing and integrative medicine.[8]

In 2016, Theory co-founded Sensync,[9] a company that created a sensory immersion vessel to offer a novel wellness treatment called the Deep Brain Massage.[10] He served as its chief executive officer until 2021 when the company was dissolved.

In 2022, Theory founded an immersive metaverse technology company Senkiva.[11]

Music career[edit]

In addition to being an inventor and entrepreneur, Alex Theory is also known for being a musical artist.[12] His style combines original Electronic, Minimal, Ambient, World, and folk music. He has released a total of eight solo albums[13] and various singles.
