- Comment: A bit of progress since the last decline, but entire sections remain unsourced. Mach61 (talk) 22:37, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: "Taiwanese chill pop duo" is too long and unencyclopedic for a disambiguation, I would heavily recommend something short and elegant like Limi (pop act) or Limi (pop duo) instead. I would also urge you to familiarize yourself with template:about to handle overlapping titles.Orchastrattor (talk) 16:43, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Comment: The title of this draft either has been disambiguated or will require disambiguation if accepted. If this draft is accepted, a hatnote will need to be added to the primary page to refer to this page. If there is already a hatnote on the primary page, please review whether a disambiguation page is in order instead. The primary page is Limi. Robert McClenon (talk) 04:45, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Limi is a Taipei-based independent chill pop duo formed by singer-songwriter Li and producer Mi in 2018. They debuted with the single "If My Nights Are Your Days" on March 22, 2019. Their first album, One of Two, was released in November 2019 to critical acclaim and earned them nominations for Best Vocal Recording Album at the 31st Golden Melody Awards.[1], New Artist of the Year and Top 100 Songs at the Apple Music Awards 2019, and 2020 KKbox's New Sound[2]
Limi's musical style has incorporated various genres like chill-out music, trip-hop, lo-fi, disco, ambience, alternative dance, and EDM, while their lyricism has focused on adult love and modern romantic relationships. Their discography and adjacent work have also been inspired by artists such as Glass Animals, Offonoff, PENOMECO, Easy Life, and Arlo Parks[3]. With catchy melodies and a trippy atmosphere created by relaxing beats and ethereal female vocals, they have gained over 1 million streams on Spotify in more than 130 countries in 2022.[4]
Background information
[edit]Origin: Taipei, Taiwan
Genres: Chill-out music • Trip-hop • Lo-fi • Disco • Ambience • Alternative dance • EDM
Years active: 2019—present
Members: Li and Mi
Formation
[edit]Li and Mi met in college and they worked together with guitarist Wyber in a Taiwan indie band called "Nightcap". Later, Li and Mi began to develop a chill-pop duo. The name of their duo was suggested by Li's mother, who said both their names "Li" and "Mi" sound very nice. So, Li simply combined their names together for the band's name - Limi. While Li is taking on the role of the main vocalist and top-line producer, Mi is the producer responsible for playing, arranging, and recording almost all of the songs.[5]

Career
[edit]2019: One of Two
[edit]Limi created their own official music channel on YouTube in a style of shojo manga without revealing the identity as former members of Nightcap initially. With the theme of "manga" and "adult love", they released a series of lovestruck songs monthly, starting from the first single "If My Nights Are Your Days" on March 22, 2019. The innovative way of release and catchy yet relaxing melodies soon earned over 1.4 million views on the YouTube video of their first single.
On November 15, 2019, they compiled all these popular lovestruck songs, including the collaborations with new-gen popular artists Yo Lee and Hsien Ching, into their first album, One of Two. The album received multiple nominations such as the Best Vocal Recording Album at the 31st Golden Melody Awards.
2020-2021: Collaboration with local independent artists
[edit]On May 29, 2020, Li worked with G5SH, an EDM duo for a single titled "A.M. 3:30" in their second album Project Krane.
On October 7, 2020, Limi joined Murmurshow and SHOU for a single titled "OSO," mixing folk songs, electronic music, and hip-hop.
On October 17, 2020, Limi featured in David Huang's first single, "I Just Wanna Leave."
On August 2, 2021, Limi teamed up with icyball for "Late night thoughts" ("搖啊搖").
2022-Present: Bad Babe
[edit]On March 13, 2022, Limi released the second album, Bad Babe. The album concept continued the storyline of their first album, One of Two, focusing on the main character's transformation from a naive girl to a mature and daring "bad kitty". Alongside the genres like chill-out pop and lo-fi that Limi's best known for, they incorporated Disco, Ambience, and Alternative Dance into this bilingual album.
On May 12, 2022, Limi released the official music video "Ice Cream," featuring EMMA, a Taipei singer-songwriter.
On June 29, 2022, Li featured in wannasleep’s single, "Night Only" ("夜間限定").
On December 13, 2022, the duo took part in a crossover collaboration with Sagami Music Project 2022 in Taiwan to publish the official music video of the title track "Bad Babe" in the Chinese version.
