David Rodney Orbell (born 27 February 1963) is an Australian former swimmer who competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Orbell finished sixth in the final of the 200-metre backstroke, and first in the B Final (ninth overall) in the 100-metre backstroke.[1] Currently he is a coach at DSA (D Swimming Academy) in Malaysia. He is known for being notoriously mean and aggressive towards his swimmers. In 2024, he was arrested for the possession of pure crystal methamphetamine. Furthermore, a body of a 20 year old women was found in his downtown Kuala Lumpur apartment and he was charged with second degree murder..
