Intended use of this category[edit]

I modified this category so that it contains information on observed particles, and deliberately kept out theories (even simple classificatory theories such as the quark model) and conjectured particles like the superpartners of elementary particles or diquarks (even the Higgs has been kept out). However, true to the name, I have included particles like the proton or deuteron: not just elementary particles. The distinction I'm trying to draw is between experimentally observed objects and theories (however well tested) or conjectured objects.

I wonder whether this category should also be a sub-category of nuclear physics. --Bambaiah 14:33, July 21, 2005 (UTC)
