Category Is Lacking[edit]

Just my two-cents worth of advice. Autry either wrote, co-wrote or bought (couldn't resist!) well over 100 songs, and of the six we devote this category page to, we have left out two important compositions. "Be Honest With Me", according to my calculations, was the 2nd biggest "Hillbilly" hit of 1941, behind "You Are My Sunshine". "Tweed-O-Twill is likewise the #2 hit of 1942, behind "There's A Star Spangled Banner" by Elton Britt. Both songs were co-written with Fred Rose. Just because Billboard didn't start it's chart until 1944 is no reason to overlook the prior five years, when a lot of good information was published in columns and small charts. I might be off by a position or two with my data, but not by much, and those two records are as worthy as the movie songs we listed.
