Redundancy and Non-Redundancy[edit]

I just readded this cat to Boundary Ranges as they were glaringly absent from the category's listings; the alternative was to sort all the various ranges into the available subcats, and it should be noted the Category:Vancouver Island Ranges is a subcat of Category:Insular Mountains. Most of the articles are sortable - but once they're done then their respective pages will didsplay on the parent cat, not "of British Columnbia" which is relevant especially with the Casc ade Range subranges. BC's range hierarchy is very elaborate, as anyone who's worked with these articles or putted aroudn bivouac or peakbagger knows, so there's other subcats potential too - Category:Columbia Mountains and even Selkirks and Purcells subcats. I think a useful "rule" would be to include the "Mountain Ranges of BC" even when teh parent cat is there, i.e. so that the range category locating it in BC is always displayed, whatever parent cat is there. Like I said, it's either tah or we sort all these to get rid orf parent-redundancies,.Skookum1 (talk) 03:15, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Icefields and plateaus[edit]

There are some of those on here because they either constitute ranges, as with the Lillooet Icecap or Homathko Icefield or Stikine Icecap, or in the case of plateaus they contain within them subranges of mountains; so only the big plateaus, not any local ones that may get articles. hard call now that there's a Plateaus cat. The Fraser Plateau contains the Camelsfoort, Marble/Pavilion/Clear Ranges, the Fawnie Range, the Quanchus Range and others; there's no macro-range housing them, so I put the plateau articles in the mountain ranges cat; maybe that's not relevant anymore; I was thinking in terms of the plateaus being groupings containing mountain ranges.Skookum1 (talk) 03:15, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hills cat merge[edit]

I didn't use a merge template on Category:Hills of British Columbia but I think it should be abandoned/merged here - see Category talk:Hills of British Columbia.Skookum1 (talk) 03:20, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
