Infobox[edit]

I just added an infobox to Simbang Gabi, Misa de Gallo, Rorate Coeli and Red Mass. I had to use {{Infobox religion}}. It's imperfect, but it works. Is there a better template? --evrik (talk) 15:43, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Elizium23: do you have any thoughts? Perhaps {{Infobox recurring event}} --evrik (talk) 03:39, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure your usage is wrong, but to satisfy Elizium, maybe copy template and call it "infobox religious service"? That would clarify usage and (with Elizium's concurrence), solve the problem.
From Elizium's pov, this is maybe like using "convertfeet" and using it for converting inches (somehow... :). Works for reader, but maybe confusing to watching editor? Student7 (talk) 19:11, 31 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I see NOTHING inappropriate about the use of this template; the template name is not part of the public-facing content of the article, nor does it wp:categorize the blue mass/red mass/etc as a "religion" in the Wikipedia index. The template simple organizes the information.
The template phrasing is a bit awkward, but no other existing templates are less awkward for expressing the desired content. Merely copying or redirecting from a different name will not address this problem. Perhaps someone might request or develop themselves an appropriate "religious event" infobox template. --Zfish118 (talk) 23:30, 9 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, Wikipedia has a learning curve that helps a contributor develop both good human readable text and machine readable metadata. This is a semantically important feature. Some of the metadata contributes to building a hierarchy of things (the best way to learn what that means, in my opinion, is to understand schema.org). Neither Simbang Gabi, Misa de Gallo, Rorate Coeli, or Red Mass are religions or denominations and should not include {{Infobox religion}}. They are types of events. The {{Infobox religion}} structures the meta metadata for a type of organization – religions or denominations – and not for a type of event. I agree with Elizium23 and don't see a way to use it since these articles are about events not about organizations. The blue mass is really local custom added to a mass, regulated by the bishop of the diocese, and not a type of liturgical norms. —BoBoMisiu (talk) 16:44, 10 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
