unsigned comment[edit]

I think this category is misleading and unfairly applied to only "muslims". For instance, the wiki article on Jesus doesn't categorize the article under "Christian Mythology". The same goes for many of the "popular" characters like Mary, Abraham etc. Can someone explain why the double standards ? Who gave the right to create a category called "islamic mythology" that is promoting a reductionist perception within only Islamic context. The same characters from a "Christianity" or "Judaism" perspective are not labeled under "Mythology in Christianity/ Judaism" etc.

I checked the Holy Spirity article and found no Christian mythology category. I will be cleaning this overuse. I can understand Khidr being in it but not Qur'an. Kabad (talk) 13:44, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to Delete this article.[edit]

This article is up for deletion. -Teetotaler 12:00 14 May, 2015 — Preceding undated comment added 04:01, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have provided no reason for deletion, and you have failed to properly nominate the category for deletion. Ian.thomson (talk) 04:32, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help in moving this along. Will you please show me how to delete this article as we don't want white trash running wikipedia. It's enough that the Quran is the word of God, we don't need crackers trying to spread ignorance on the internet. - Teetotaler 19 May 2015 — Preceding undated comment added 10:57, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm white and a Christian, and I will not support your racism or biased editing. Ian.thomson (talk) 15:49, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Could we propose a different title for this category? It seems that the use of "mythology" is creating the issue here.  — Jason Sosa 15:59, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, good idea, I'm not sure who created this "category" but they certainly are a racist. -Teetotaler 19 May, 2015 — Preceding undated comment added 16:40, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
However, I did do some digging and found that there is a Christian mythology category -> Category:Christian mythology. So, and there is bunch more where that came from. Not sure how to proceed, here.  — Jason Sosa 16:50, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I do not see any reason for deletion. All religions have accumulated myths and folk traditions that are far removed from their religious texts and official practices. Dimadick (talk) 08:49, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That is the thing, if you do not understand the religion you will treat everything you see as strange, foreign and different and labeling it as mythology. But if you want to add "Islamic Mythology" then that is fine, make sure those things are not part of the core and orthodox belief of the religion. That being said you will need to remove many things listed in this category and move them to Islamic belief and doctrine.
