Ramsethu[edit]

Hi all, some folks are insisting that the name Adams Bridge be used for Ram Sethu. Ramsethu is the legal Indian name and even in English. Please protest and help change the name. The talk page is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Adam%27s_Bridge#Edit_request_on_25_February_2013 ~rAGU (talk)

Meeting[edit]

I do not know, if this is the proper place to give out a wish of mine: I wish that we should have a meeting of Indian wikipedians in diffirent places of india, and the meeting should be sponsored under the guidance of Wikimedia Foundation. --Bhadani 12:09, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request,Nomination for removal of Khalistan article[edit]

Hello Sir I'm nominating this page for deletion because it is written with a point of view , excessive use of unreliable sources.and the title "Khalistan" is wrong for the topic because "Khalistan" does not exist, lack of support from resident Punjabi's and Sikhs in India, but there was a "Movement for Khalistan" and that is the right title for the topic, and i think this whole article "a new name" should be rewritten with the help of people from sikh community "in" India and other Indians, because this topic is related to politics/people of India. We all should understand Khalistan is not a political entity and having a article is not justified, Microsoft Encarta and Britannic encyclopedia don't have an article known as "Khalistan" but they do have articles on the movement that took place decades back, and i think there are also copyright issues involved with this article because big parts of this article are written on other peoples research. Many reliable sources are used to show "one side" of their view on the topic, there are also indications that organisations banned by US and EU are involved in providing their research on the movement.I am a strong supporter to have a stub on this topic , but im afraid that such articles on wikipedia have become mouthpieces for organisation which are known for disrupting peace (assassination of one of india's prime minister, twin bomb blast in New Delhi on the eve of Diwali) in Indian sub continent. This article requires your attention , please help. Anmol.2k4 18:48, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Remove Khalistan[edit]

Demand for Khalistan was raised by some Sikhs as a seprate state for them on the basis of religion. All this has been settled and movement exists no more in India This is Anti National and Anti Indian and any post or article referring Khalistan should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.205.205 (talkcontribs)

Sub-category[edit]

This category has a sub-category Category:Indian Wikipedian, which redirects to this one itself. Shouldn't we remove it completely. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 07:31, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

These problems are occuring due to the templates. Due to templates, there is problem of self-categorization and also the category is getting categorized under other categories such as Indian Wikipedian citizens | Resident Indian Wikipedians | NRI or PIO Wikipedians | Wikipedians in the United Kingdom. Should templates be removed or put on discussion page? Any other suggestions? utcursch | talk 10:49, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have raised this concent elsewhere as well that user boxes should not always come with 'Mandatory' category. Can someone create category less userboxes and use them here as here also it is causing recursive and improper categoriation. Vjdchauhan 06:04, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

User boxes occupying too much space[edit]

User boxes is occupying too much space on the [[Category:Indian Wikipedians]] page and one need to scroll down to see the subcategory/page list where the main data is lying, can someone good at wikitable align them horizontally to free up some (valuable) space or may be keep only Indian Wikipedian user box i.e. User IND Wiki which will also resolve the above issue (Sub-category) partially. Be part of local user categories as well[edit]

Hi Indian wikipedians, I think we should also become part of our coresponding local categories like [[Category:New Delhi Wikipedians]] to collaborate more effectively and locally. This will facilitate meetups like Bangalore Wikipedians meetup.
I am now seeing the (positive) trend of more and more locally relevant articles are being added to wikipedia and (thankfully) such pages have started surviving 'non notability criteria', thus it becomes more important to be part of such categories which can be used to enhance and maintain local information as well. Global categories/pages like Wikipedia talk:Notice board for India-related topics can be fine for discussing topics spanning regions (e.g. 14'th Lok Sabha, Hindi Film Industry, Indian Railways etc) but not for state/city wise information, for such local data its better to use discusssion page of corresponding page (e.g. discussion page of Jhansi) and/or corresponding page(s) category (e.g. [[Category:Jhansi]]) and/or corresponding user category (e.g. [[Category:Jhansi Wikipedians]]) Viki POV: I see city/town wise Viki (Wiki) Clubs emerging out of wikipedia and such effort will help there. Templates[edit]

I like your templates, but I live in Chicago which means "This user is a US American of Indian Origin" or something like that would be nice to see. Thanks, Galo1969X 06:55, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
