With so many French actors and actresses, maybe we should think of breaking up a separate Category:French actresses to be more gender-logical.--Jusjih 06:05, 31 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This category isn't all that big, less than 400, tiny compared to Category:American actors. When it is over 400 we can add a table of contents. I believe gender based categories are against policy unless there is some extenuating circumstance. -- Samuel Wantman 08:03, 1 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
French Wikipedia has fr:Catégorie:Actrice française (French actrice) separate from fr:Catégorie:Acteur français (French actor). French has much stricter rules on grammars and genders than English. If you consider that gender-based categories are against policy unless there is some extenuating circumstance, please specify which policy you are talking about. This is why I use discussion page before any changes. wikt:actor at Wiktionary does not consider the word masculin only, though we normally use the word wikt:actress for females. Does that mean that the word actor may be gender-independent in English?--Jusjih 07:00, 2 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
