Why?[edit]

Seriously, why would anyone need to view all clubs established in the same year. This category goes against the guidelines. A category must provide useful and meaningful grouping of information. Rimmeraj 21:06, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because[edit]

The football clubs established in a given year could be listed on the appropriate year in football (soccer) page and this list would not break the Wikipedia guidlines. However, using the categories is to be prefered for several reasons, not least because the source data is contained on each club's page where any errors are much more likely to be spotted and corrected. Proposed mass page move[edit]

The article for football (soccer) is now called Association football, and seems to be the agreed term to use. the (soccer) implies that football is a form of soccer, which is not really the case. Anybody think the categories should be changed to "Association football clubs by year of establishment". I don't particularly like the term for it (I don't think anybody does), but...I don't know, just thought I'd say, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:30, 26 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I see it's been done. Well, just ignore this section now. Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 11:54, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
