Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club is THE equestrian destination for competitive riders, hobbyists, and people who just want to have fun in an oasis midst the busy Capital.

The Club is located within the heart of Abu Dhabi, in Al Bateen Area. Our experienced staff will assist you at all times.

History[edit]

The Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club (hereafter referred to as “ADEC”) was originally established in 1976 by the late President, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The club’s grass racetrack was laid down in 1980, and it opened for public racing in 1991. Prior to this, ADEC primarily organized private meetings for Arabian horses, often coinciding with significant occasions.

In 1994, in alignment with leadership directives, the club underwent a comprehensive modernization effort. This included the construction of a new fibreturf grass racetrack and the installation of floodlights, enabling racing events to be held after sunset. Additionally, various facilities were introduced, such as air-conditioned stable blocks and equine swimming pools. A state-of-the-art grandstand, with a seating capacity of 5,000, was constructed, featuring corporate hospitality boxes, VIP suites, and administration offices, available all season.

Description[edit]

Today, the sprawling 200-acre complex boasts a turf racetrack, sand training tracks, indoor and outdoor equestrian arenas, stables, a riding school, veterinary clinic, and a well-lit-9-hole golf course. ADEC serves a prominent venue for national and international horse racing, show jumping, and dressage competitions, including the prestigious Group 1 International Jewel Crown, with a remarkable prize of USD 1.36 million, as well as the 5* Nations Cup in show jumping.

Seasonally, ADEC plays host to numerous horse racing events, typically running from November through March. These races deliver an electrifying and captivating experience, attracting a diverse international fan base.

We maintain a close collaboration with the equestrian community in the Capital, further enhancing the stature and impact of ADEC within the region.
