The 40th Army Corps, (Russian: 40-й армейский корпус, romanized40-y Armeyskiy Korpus) is a tactical formation formed in 2023 as part of the Southern Military District

History[edit]

After beginning formation in May 2023, parts of the Corps was deployed in September 2023 in southern Ukraine [2] as part of the 18th Combined Arms Army.

Formation[edit]

The corps was formed in May 2023 in Kabardino-Balkaria district.[2]

The Soviet Union's 47th Motor Rifle Division was previously active as part of the Kiev Military District before being disbanded in 1991.[3]
