On 23 June 2023, a Cessna 208 Caravan 675^[2] operated by Semuwa Aviasi Mandiri (SAM Air) carrying four passengers and two crew crashed at 10.53 WIT in Yalimo Regency, Highland Papua, Indonesia.^[3]

Accident[edit]

The plane involved in the accident was a Cessna 208 Caravan 675, registered PK-SMW, flying to Poik Airfield, Highland Papua.^[3] It departed from Elelim Airport in Yalimo Regency, at approximately 10:53 a.m. local time. According to an Indonesian Ministry of Transportation spokesman, eight minutes after takeoff the plane lost contact.^[3]

The accident occurred approximately 12 km from Elelim Airport.^[2]
