I stumbled upon this user in January when they added a news reference to one of my pages on Spanish politicians, which didn't have anything to do with the preceding text. [1] For those who don't understand what the added source is about, it's a dime a dozen story about an opposition politician blaming the government for price rises. I found this a bit weird and made a user talk page post trying to work out why they thought it was appropriate, but then I looked through the user's edits and found even more of the same: putting a news story about the UN leader AFTER a quotation about him talking about a completely different subject, [2] a news story about abortion law at the end of a sentence about term limits in a legislature [3]. This was all from the same website, all recent news stories, all being added to sentences and paragraphs about other things. By that point I wrote again to the user saying this is WP:NOT what Wikipedia is for. If we assume good faith, we assume the user can't read Spanish and is blindly inserting sources without being able to read them, but believes this is helpful. However, I think it's completely more obvious that the user has a connection with this minor news website.

Out of curiosity, I looked again at this user's edits. They pleaded the fifth on my user talk comments and went back to adding unrelated news links, this time also in Arabic and Albanian, which suggests they have some sort of freelance role in traffic enhancement, rather than just a wide range of interests. Some of the links include a soft news story about a skiier's routine (reverted by someone else) [4]. An unsourced paragraph with contentious claims about an Egyptian TV show was backed up with links to streams of the show [5]. A paragraph about a Kosovo politician's career prior to 2018 is sourced to a press release from 2022 that reads only "The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today appointed Arben Vitia, Minister of Health, to whom he wished success in fulfilling his duties and responsibilities." [6] Maybe I shouldn't, but I find it funny that this user claims to have a PhD when they can't (or choose not to) find sources that justify the preceding text.

TLDR, this user has already been warned, and continues to do nothing but add unrelated news links to articles. Unknown Temptation (talk) 08:45, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
