Submitting Talk:Hoplobatrachus tigerinus/GA1... about a week and a half later then I could have. I don't think I'm going to score high this round but I think I'll be able to qualify, so I'm sticking around. Also, I thought this GAR was pretty small, but my word counter of choice says that it's about 329 words 1,942 characters (which does not include the nominator's comments or anything of the template, just the stuff I wrote in prose/paragraph format), and the scoring guide says 1000 characters is the rule of thumb, so I think I'm fine. Apologies for the confusion if I'm not fine submitting this. casualdejekyll 20:45, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I probably should ping a judge since I'm unsure about it - @Sturmvogel 66, is this GAR I just submitted long enough for points? If not, where's a good rule of thumb? (I'm not trying to game, just unsure of what should and shouldn't count.) (For the record, I feel like I put about the same amount of work into this GAR as I did into my DYK last year, which would have been worth 5 points if I did it this year, so it seems about right to me? But I just want to make sure it's OK because it feels small compared to other GARs I've seen.) casualdejekyll 20:50, 20 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks good enough. The thing that I noticed that you didn't address is that the bullfrog is protected by Indian law, but is "of least concern" to the IUCN. Why is this?--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 14:16, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Guh, my first GAR and I already whiffed it. @An anonymous username, not my real name - If you have time, could you add information about such to the article? I already passed it so you're in no hurry to do so, but it would help a lot. casualdejekyll 01:08, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thinking about withdrawing. Although I technically qualify for the next round, I am in last place by far. The entire reason I chose to sign up for the WikiCup was to attempt to motivate myself to improve Synapturanus mirandaribeiroi, and as you can see by the stubby state of that article, I haven't gotten there. I'm not 100% sure on my withdrawal (perhaps I will have renewed motivation going into round 2) but I'm definitely on the side of "probably going to withdraw". casualdejekyll 00:12, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Sturmvogel 66 - Per the above and the fact that I have not renewed my motivation, I am withdrawing. Thank you for running the contest. casualdejekyll 17:22, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry to hear that, but I hope that you feel up to participating next year. Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 11:46, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
