First sentence[edit]

The first sentence here needs to be totally rewritten. "economy" needs an definite article, "the economy", but it was the period, not the economy, that "saw" China experience prosperity and decline. Awien (talk) 12:29, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Here's one suggestion/starting point:
