I have been privately contacted by an individual claiming to be Tina M. Barber, requesting that I serve as her advocate in the current arbitration proceeding. I have been unable to verify that the request came from Ms. Barber; it came through Yahoo mail directly rather than Wikipedia mail. After I responded to the initial email, to an address independently associated with Ms Barber, I received a followup email from the original, unverified address which rather ambiguously indicated awareness of my response. After reviewing the arbitration, it seems clear to me that Ms. Barber should have an advocate, and I believe I can do so effectively. However, given the circumstances surrounding the contact with me, I am suspicious that the request is not legitimate, and comes from someone trying to further inflame an already acrimonious dispute, and who has decided to involve me because I have a moderately similar dispute with User:Jareth. Is it, therefore, appropriate for me to present evidence regarding this matter (which any Wikipedian is entitled to) without becoming subject to the arbitration itself? I believe Ms. Barber could definitely use the assistance of an advocate, though I would suggest that the Association of Members' Advocates might be a more appropriate place to look for one. I have emailed you privately with the email address associated with Ms. Barber's account here and suggested possibilities for the emails you are receiving. If you sincerly feel you could represet Ms. Barber fairly and assist her here dispite our previous involvement and Ms. Barber is agreeable, I would have no problem with it. .:.Jareth.:. ^babelfish 20:14, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Tina Barber has now contacted me directly and requested my help as her advocate. The original contact seems to have been on her behalf, but without authorization. I will therefore begin presenting evidence as her advocate, absent contrary direction from ArbComm. Monicasdude 18:38, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
