Exempted Ride the Hurricane(talk·contribs·deleted contribs·logs·filter log·block user·block log) (email request). Checkuser confirms user is affected by a hard-blocked IP range used by a "temporary account" vandal. Users contribs are few but no sign of vandalism, no block log, edits go back a year. Somewhat apprehensive in case we get sleepers requesting exemption, but if we do we can deal with them - if they use anonymity we remove the exemption anyway. Still curious how this request came to me, less than 24 hours after the right was enabled, by a user who only rarely edits. Time will tell if the exemption is reasonable. Exempted 718 Bot(talk·contribs·deleted contribs·logs·filter log·block user·block log) (IRC request). Bot operates from a large hardblocked range. Currently a hard to manage system of layered blocks was used to permit editing. [1] This flag will permit full blocking of the disruptive range. [2] As this full block negates the risk of east718 running unknown abusive accounts, there is an acceptably low risk of violative behavior. MBisanztalk 01:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exempted Man with a tan(talk·contribs·deleted contribs·logs·filter log·block user·block log). The original request was by an anonymous user by use of {{unblock}} who was covered by this rangeblock. I had him email me his desired account name and created the account, then had him confirm that he had taken possession of the account, also checking that he used an IP address from that range. As it is an account without any editing history, I shall be particularly checking to ensure that he does not use the account for anonymising proxies. Sam Korn(smoddy) 10:58, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most of these bots are critical (At least Cluebot is), they run from shared hosting (which, in most cases can get frequently rangeblocked as soon as one idiot runs a php proxy)
So that blocks on the individual bots can be made in case of malfunction without affecting the more critical ones (in case 'autoblock disabled is forgotten')
And, because they will be moving to a school network soon, which will be MUCH more prone to rangeblocking. SQLQuery me! 20:53, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Granted to VernKlukas (talk·contribs). IP is a range owned by a hosting company, likely source of proxies, and abused by editors whose sole contributions was to add spam links to their own user pages. His IP is not obviously a proxy, and if he starts adding spam links it will be easy enough to remove. Thatcher 16:28, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi all. I'm granting both User:Wowbobwow12 and User:JFH78 IP block exemption flags, per checkuser verification. They have both been caught in a narrow User:Primetime hard rangeblock. Checkuser confirms that they are not socks of the vandal account - Alison❤ 05:35, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Jojojojo84 (talk·contribs), editing on the network of a rangeblocked vandal, probably not the vandal himself. Thatcher 12:05, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exempted Chrisch (talk·contribs) - ISP's gateway/caching proxy has an rogue open proxy on its network and has been hardblocked. Long term occasional contributor, no reason to suspect abuse. -- zzuuzz(talk) 13:29, 14 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Katerwilliams (talk·contribs) new user on hardblocked range. Checkuser suggests unlikely to be the vandal targeted by the block, but this should be followed up on in a few days. Thatcher 18:03, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Exempted Metrofeed (talk·contribs) - Caught in one of Thatcher's checkuser hard rangeblocks, comment in the block message reads "Really don't unblock; IPBE may be liberally granted for pre-existing accounts". There doesn't appear to be any issue with Metrofeed's contributions, and he's been here since 2006. Hersfold(t/a/c) 17:50, 20 October 2008 (UTC) Removed 06:18, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
MJ3600 (talk·contribs) new account, wants to edit from hardblocked range (persistent vandal); verified by non-free ISP-assigned email address. Thatcher 15:41, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sokhen (talk·contribs) Caught in a Grawp hard rangeblock; created the account during a discussion on #wikipedia-en-unblock with blocker's approval. Hersfold(t/a/c) 00:27, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bouazizi (talk·contribs), sometimes edits from location that is blocked due to vandalism. Thatcher 15:39, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Elite Rhodes(talk·contribs·deleted contribs·logs·filter log·block user·block log). This is an odd case. The user apparently mainly contributes from a blocked school/college IP address, with account creation disabled, blocking anons only. However, the anon-only flag does not extend to the block account creation option, so while the user is able to edit, they are prevented from creating accounts (the user does work at WP:ACC). After testing this with my own IP, and my sockpuppet, User:Stwalkersock, I determined that IPBE would allow this user to create accounts again. I'll admit this is an interesting scenario, but it seems to work. Stwalkerster [ talk ] 18:31, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
