R from radio program?[edit]

We have {{R from television program}}: why not {{R from radio program}}? I wanted to categorise Fixing Britain with Louise Casey and struggled. There must be plenty of cases where a radio show is notable enough for a redirect to its host but not for an entire article. PamD 09:47, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see why not. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 16:37, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Who makes these decisions? Do I just go ahead and create it (by modelling it on the TV equivalent) and then add it to the template which has the index of Rcats, or is there a formal approval process? PamD 17:35, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think there is anything more formal than asking for comments here. If there's been no objections after a few days (and I have none) then just go ahead and create it. Thryduulf (talk) 13:36, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've WP:BOLDly had a go. I've created {{R from radio program}} and Category:Redirects from radio programs, added it to {{R template index}}, and added it to one redirect, Fixing Britain with Louise Casey. I'd be delighted if someone with a bit more experience of creating Rcats would have a look and see if I've done everything right. PamD 16:04, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Categorization of multiple taxonomies[edit]

The "Categorization of multiple taxonomies" section seems like just a specific applied instance of the "Redirects having a target that is incompatible with the category" section above it. Should it be merged into that section? {{u|Sdkb}}talk 20:53, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sdkb, It does look like it could be seen that way. Perhaps further clarification would be useful, or move the subsection on categorization of multiple taxonomies into the one on redirects having a target that is incompatible with the category. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 08:49, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion of miscapitalization[edit]

See relevant discussion of intents and purposes of categorization tags at Template talk:R from miscapitalisation#Template intent. Dicklyon (talk) 09:51, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

R from literal translation[edit]

Example: All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S.A.Gerasimov (correct full name in English: S. A. Gerasimov All-Russian University of Cinematography). What is the rcat for this redirect? What is the printworthiness in your opinion, in this example? —Alalch E. 12:48, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alalch E., I've never used it myself (I only found it when looking at Category:Redirects from alternative names just now), but would {{R from alternative translation}} be a good fit here? I'm not the most familiar with printworthiness, so I don't feel qualified enough to give an answer on that front. Apologies for the belated response. R from organization department or division[edit]

What is the appropriate redirect categorization to use when redirecting from an organizational department or division to the parent organization? Especially for government bureaucracies? GobsPint (talk) 00:57, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GobsPint, does {{R from subsidiary}} match what you're looking for? All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 18:06, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's perfect. I must've overlooked that keyword. GobsPint (talk) 18:22, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've added it to the {{Rcat functional index}} navbox. GobsPint (talk) 18:26, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

R from notable event, meeting, summit, or conference?[edit]

What is the appropriate redirect categorization from a notable event, meeting, summit, or conference? Closest I found is {{R from subtopic}}? Several scientific organizations got their start at notable conferences/meetings. GobsPint (talk) 21:48, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

note[edit]

per an rfd, a new rcat should be created and the old title at Template:R from subtitle be recreated as having a new deprecation notice as explained there. Should it be called Template:R from subtitle alone or another? ToadetteEdit! 22:32, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I missed this note - but for reference for anyone reading this in the future, I created a new rcat-redirect from {{R from subtitle alone}}, and created a template-dab page at {{R from subtitle}} to distinguish between that and {{Template:R from title and subtitle}}. Redirect from an examination, test, or certification?[edit]

When creating redirects for notable certifications to the certification body, is {{R from subtopic}} the preferred option? GobsPint (talk) 04:33, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
