Hi, how can I improve this article? This school has been around for 25 years, it made a huge impact in my community and would like to honor it by recording its history. I checked out a few articles about other important or impactful schools and found that those articles also spoke about the school's history, how they started and developed over the years. Those articles didn't seem to have published newspaper articles as sources only regular people like you and me, I'm assuming mostly students, parents or members of the community contributing to the article. Is this how we could build this article to be reliable and significant? You may disagree but this school with its 25 years of history and the impact it had on our city and the families in our community, IS significant and worthy to be memorialized in a Wikipedia article. I would be really interested in your opinions. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Szilvilazar (talkcontribs) 20:52, 15 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Szilvilazar. I fully understand what you are saying, but I'm afraid it is not in line with Wikipedia policy. Editing in order to "honor" or "memorialize" something is contrary to the policy that Wikipedia is not a medium for promotion, and the policy that Wikipedia is not a memorial site. Inclusion is based not on whether a subject is noble and beneficial, nor on Wikipedia editors' view as to how much "impact" it has had on a local community, but on whether it satisfies our notability guidelines, the main point of which is that a subject needs to have had substantial coverage in significant reliable sources. Also, sources close to the subject are not suitable. As for your comment concerning articles about other schools, what you say is, unfortunately, true, but to understand why that is not a reason for keeping this article, see WP:OTHERSTUFF, which is a section of the page Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions.
