Upcoming absence[edit]

Murphy's Law truly seems to hate me - right as this election comes up, so does a conference to which I am expected, and required, to lead a delegation to. Unfortunately, as I prepare for this conference, I will be very busy off-wiki and will have very little if any time to check in on things. From Friday afternoon (approx. 19:00 UTC) through Sunday morning (approx. 17:00 UTC) I will not have any access to a computer. Until Sunday morning, any questions asked of me will very likely not be answered. I will make an effort to answer as many questions as are currently listed on my Questions page on Thursday; I should (hopefully) have some time that afternoon or evening. However, I cannot make any guarantees on that.

I do deeply apologize for the disappearance; unfortunately circumstances are not in the least ideal. Should you have a pressing question that must be asked NOW, you are more than welcome to contact me by email, and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you for your understanding. Withdrawing[edit]

Some of you may have noticed that my activity lately is very low - unfortunately, I've been very busy the last several weeks with classwork and my other positions, as well as some health problems that seem to get in the way whenever I do have some time to myself. I don't see that this is likely to improve during the following week, and I fear this may be an indication that the coming months will likewise leave little time for "wikiwork" in general, much less the demands of a potential seat on the Arbitration Committee. For this reason, I am withdrawing from the 2008 Arbitration Committee Elections, effective immediately. Thank you to all who asked questions of me for your interest, and special thanks to those who offered their support. I hope to be able to run next year, but now is not the best time. I wish all of the other candidates the best of luck, and look forward to hearing the results of the election. Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:22, 25 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
