About the Event[edit]

On Tuesday 10th November, the University of Oxford’s IT Services are hosting an editathon focused on the city and university of Oxford in World War I. The editathon will take place at IT Services on Banbury Road, Oxford, and will include basic training in wiki editing.

Come along to learn about how Wikipedia works and contribute to free knowledge about World War I.

  • Date: 2-5pm, Tuesday 10 November 2015
  • Venue: IT Services, University of Oxford (directions)
  • Participants: All welcome! No Wiki editing experience is necessary, though experienced editors are very welcome; tutorials will be provided for Wikipedia newcomers.
  • Can’t get to Oxford? Virtual participation is welcome.
  • Register to attend in Oxford: Oxford University members should sign up online via Oxford IT Services. Others should email courses@it.ox.ac.uk . You're welcome to add your name below as well.
  • Cost: Free!

We also discussed the possible use of Wikisource to transcribe the Vigilance Committee report. Stephen will first need to obtain a paper copy from the History Centre in Cowley.
