Frances Anne Hughes CNZM is a New Zealand politician and Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives for the National Party.

Early life and career

Hughes has a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences from Massey University, a Master of Arts from Victoria University of Wellington and a Doctor of Nursing from the University of Technology Sydney.[1]

In November 2022, Hughes contested selection as the National Party candidate for the 2022 Hamilton West by-election, ultimately losing out to Tama Potaka.[2] The next month she was selected as the candidate for Mana.[1]

Personal life

Hughes is married to Kevin and they have two children.[1] In the 2005 Birthday Honours, she was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the mental health profession.[3] In the 2020 New Year Honours she was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to mental health and nursing.[4]
