  • 203.166.96.234 defacing several pages -- Zoe 23:28 Oct 18, 2002 (UTC)
    • I blocked that at the third offense, but I just now nslookedup it and it's called cache0.syd.ops.aspac.uu.net, which sounds like a squid. The actual perp AFAICT could be any UU customer in Australia or Japan. I can't even tell from whois where the squid is. Should this IP be unblocked? -phma
  • 12.39.89.31 added nonsense to Joseph Nathan Kane, Rose Kennedy, Adolph Zukor, Eubie Blake, Nicolas Slonimsky, Irving Rapper, and Grandma Moses. IP is blocked. IP is a dialup line at madbbs.com and is likely to change. It may reappear at anywhere in 12.38.88/19. -phma 2002-10-17
    • This person has been adding sloppy short bios of people who lived to be over 100 years, with comments like "WOW THAT'S REALLY REALLY OLD!!"; may be more clueless than a deliberate vandal. -- Infrogmation
  • 66.108.48.88 was mucking around the hermeneutics page Slrubenstein
  • 209.189.128.78 Completely rewrote 2 articles and wrote 1 from scratch, all nonsensical and obscene. Quite funny, though, I have to admit, but still, absolutely not in line with the 'pedia. -User:Olivier
    • Blocked at your request, although we could be losing a talented contributor. --Ed Poor 16:42 Oct 16, 2002 (UTC)
    • I agree with you, I would be in favor of deblocking this contributor quickly and letting him/her know that he/she could better use his/her creativity. -User:Olivier
      • I think you guys have low standards for "talent" and "creativity" but... This IP belongs to a public school in Albuquerque; probably a library or classroom machine, which more intelligent students might stumble across. Unblocked. --Brion 11:04 Oct 18, 2002 (UTC)
  • 195.93.32.9 Another vandal that deleted the Warsaw Pact article. Damage undone, but this is the third vandal (going by IP) in a few days to have done this. Scipius 20:11 Oct 10, 2002 (UTC)
  • 128.193.88.224 inserting random obscenities in multiple articles. --Ed Poor
    • damage undone -- 128.193.88.224
    • yes, good job of cleaning up. An amazing example of visitor to the site experimenting with how to use it And you've picked up on our formatting conventions rather quickly, too :-) --Ed Poor
  • October 8, 2002: 24.151.44.245 Set up pages at Natural catastrophe and Ignatius Donnelly with nonsense on them.
    • Just a kid fooling around. I deleted the pages; if he comes back, we can consider a block.
  • October 8, 2002: Several pages by 165.139.124.250, mostly full text deletions - IP blocked by popular demand --Ed Poor. Damages have all been reverted --FvdP
  • October 7, 2002: 208.155.3.133-- changed Mac OS to gibberish, then to graffiti; started Jef Raskin with jazz scat (so I morphed it into a stub) --Ed Poor

    • Protected Sandy Desert and 2 Scottish articles; tried to start dialogue with 216.174. I'll give him one more chance, then I say we use the "block" feature. --Ed Poor
    • Okay, 20 minutes of peace having passed since my message to 216, I have unprotected the 3 pages in question. --Ed Poor
  • October 1, 2002: Vandalism of Roman Colosseum by 65.199.239.171 between 19:01 and 19:05. Bernfarr
  • Anonymous user from dynamic IP 128.193.xxx.xxx has refused several attempts to move rational discussion of his entries from the Talk:Wikipedic page to the meta pages. Yes, he's made a few useful contributions too, but he has also edited comments made by others to make them look like they said something different; that alone shows a complete lack of personal integrity incompatible with a collaborative project, and I for one will not consider lifting his block until he apologizes for that. --LDC
    • I could just as well say that you have refused several attempts to keep rational discussion of my entries in the Talk:Wikipedic page. As for editing comments made by others, I'm continually finding my comments changed as well.
    • Give me a page title, date, and time where someone has edited one of your comments to make it appear you said something you didn't, and I will block that person's access as well. Many different things are welcome or at least tolerated here: dissent, zeal, bias, odd ideas, rudeness, etc.; those are all just part of what makes us a diverse community. But honesty is not negotiable.
I have blocked this IP address; now need to fix these pages. Vicki Rosenzweig
  • 24.200.80.95 -- Not really vandalizing, but creating odd stubs at a phenomenal rate. Would like a block until he/she slows down and reads the welcome pack???J Hofmann Kemp
    • Today's seem to be a reasonable breakdown of the formerly unordered Companies list. Yesterday there were some odd lists of Canadian hockey players (with badly broken links) and Massachussets counties (with only lists of cities and no links). Seems to me to be improving, then... --Brion
      • still, it might be good to encourage people to think about what they want from the page before creating it? J Hofmann Kemp
  • 195.235.92.254 has vandalised the Watergate scandal page and the Stellar astronomy page
  • 203.97.2.243 is vandalizing major wikipedia pages with phone numbers date 5.30.02 10:20 CDT
  • (Alert over, IP blocked temporarily) 131.191.39.149 seems to insist on putting copyrighted text in Sufi Order International, I need to check 131's other "contribs" to make sure there aren't any other problems.
  • 147.251.62.62 vandalised the George Washington page - had to repair it - whoever it was had replaced "President" with "Penguin" and Washington's name with "George Pittsburgh".
  • Uriyan and i (62.140.77.xxx) have a conflict in terms of definition of palestinians .. are they terrorists or freedom fighters? uriyan has refused to compromise on this page Palestinian terrorism
  • 62.140.77.165 has been excessively assertive about his version of Palestinian terrorism.
  • 209.177.1.132 has been making some rather odd repeated additions to various articles and vandalizing the Michael Gross article again.
  • 172.148.19.211 and 209.255.69.195 keep creating an article called Opera Buffa, which consists of nothing but silliness and insults. It has been deleted several times, always to be re-created.
  • 142.150.49.xxx and 142.150.48.xxx have been adding members of various houses at the University of Toronto, generally to call them homosexuals, insane, etc. They haven't shown much desire to listen to comments to ask them to stop. I vote for an IP ban.
  • 194.117.133.xxx deleted Alleanza Nazionale, is promoting his website ukonline.gov.uk, and a variety of other things that need watching - doesn't look like it's outright vandalism, though, I may be jumping the gun. Bryan Derksen Between the attacks on the UK site he didn't like, and the deletion of all content on Wikipedians:Italy, I decided enough was enough, and have blocked this user. Vicki Rosenzweig
  • 65.56.45.xxx While an edit of Ed was merely humor that was inapproriate for Wikipedia, the user then added a derogatory, angry comment to the user page of -- April including swearing in the summary and in the comment itself. IP ban in order? A: Only if it happens again.
  • 67.114.47.xxx vandalism of half-life
  • 62.254.0.xxx is adding loads of exclamation points and extraneous ranting to the Physics page.
  • 62.98.247.192 has gotten a new IP (love dial-up, don't you?) and created an interesting little article called Scott Brown.
  • 62.98.178.xxx, in a burst of spite, also placed a big "Your edit will not be saved" on meta.wikipedia.com's main page. Whatta w- nevermind.
  • 62.98.178.xxx, also known as 62.98.140.xxx and 62.98.136.xxx, replaced "Sexism" article with the "Diatribe Against Sexism" from meta. This is part of a long patter (see below and talk page).
  • 62.98.136.xxx is doing a wide variety of things that border on vandalism. It started with the "Penis Bird", then he dumped a ton of Household cyclopedia articles on here that are hopelessly out of date, he's extending Pi and other mathematical constants of a like type to page length strings of numbers, and finally he posts a purported piece of Scientology's teachings (as seen in another person's leaflet) immediately after the qualification that people have been sued for posting such things. I'm not a particularly active participant, but seems he needs a ban...
