Suspected sockpuppets

Evidence submitted by Bonadea

As seen above, there are several previous sockpuppetry investigations. The new socks have created articles in userspace for xgmx' website "SS Free", which most of his previous editing was concerned with promoting. See User:Ezri Tigan/SS Free and User talk:24.240.186.152/SS Free respectively. See also [1] where Ezri Tigan discusses the reasons for creating the userspace article.

The IP has previously admitted to being xgmx here, and has been spamming the website link, for instance here, which resulted in a block in May. --bonadea contributions talk 08:15, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets [edit]

Evidence submitted by Bonadea [edit]

One of the signature editing behaviours of Xgmx was the frequent promotion of his various sites, in particular the "SS Free" message board, and creating articles promoting possibly fictitious upcoming videogames. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ackuron for instance. Kevin1gamer is a user name used on other message boards by Xgmx; this isn't evidence in itself (although using Google to search for the two usernames together is rather revealing), but the user Kevin1gamer has now been promoting the "SS Free" here and "Ackuron" here.

The connection to the IP is evident from this edit. There are a couple of other IPs in the same range that I believe are also socks, but there the evidence is more to do with editing style and I'm a bit afraid of drawing conclusions from what I believe rather than what there is evidence for. bonadea contributions talk 13:50, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

information Administrator note Yep. Kevin1gamer indefinitely blocked and tagged. The autoblock should nab the IP. –MuZemike 02:13, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets [edit]

Evidence submitted by Bonadea [edit]

User:Kevin1gamer was blocked as an obvious sock of the banned user User:Xgmx a week ago, after this SPI. The IP 24.171.1.195 was also confirmed as an obvious sock, but wasn't blocked, and has been making edits since - this diff shows an addition of a wikilink to one of xgmx' fictional projects. User:CafeDelKevin, a new user account, has since made edits indicating that they are 24.171.1.195, in particular here. Their edits are also the same kind that Xgmx has been making under his various guises, for instance nationalist POVing and unnecessary wikilinking.

I don't think the similarities are quite sufficient to prove that Kevin1gamer and CafeDelKevin are the same user, which is why I ask for a CU.

Clerk endorsed. That edit is IMO insufficient for a duck block, but coupled with the username I think there's enough for a check here. Tim Song (talk) 18:15, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed. You can hardblock the IP for up to three months if you want. J.delanoygabsadds 20:59, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Evidence submitted by Bonadea [edit]

xgmx (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) aka kevin1gamer (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) currently uses the handle "ILoveSky" on other forums. Recently User:ILoveSky requested a whitelisting of xgmx' forum, the SS Free (also known as Lyoko Haven) here. Editing patterns are very similar to earlier incarnations, with most but not all edits to video game articles, and excessive Wikilinking of talk page posts, such as here. --bonadea contributions talk 08:12, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that User:Xgmx has been the subject of multiple SPIs and at least one previous CU request, and has had a number of sockpuppets since his indef block/ban in 2007. --bonadea contributions talk 08:46, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another piece of evidence which almost amounts to quacking: this is ILoveSky making an offhand reference to xgmx' Lyoko Haven forum as a "reliable gaming news source". This casual mention of his own projects, often together with reputable projects, is typical behaviour from earlier socks: [2], [3], [4], [5]. --bonadea contributions talk 11:06, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Current status – Declined, the reason can be found below.    Requested by bonadea contributions talk 08:12, 17 May 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Clerk declined – Behavioral evidence clearly indicates that this is Xgmx. In addition, all other previous socks are  Stale. In either case, no CU necessary. –MuZemike 15:31, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

information Administrator note Blocked and tagged, all pages created by him deleted per WP:CSD#G5.  IP blocked as well for a very long time. –MuZemike 15:31, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed this user's xgmx-like behaviour some time ago, but didn't look more closely until today. The account exists on several Wikimedia projects[6], and the user page on some of the other projects, for instance on Wikiquote, show without any doubt that this is the same user. Behavioural evidence on en.wiki include this edit (touting his own forum, now called "Particle Cannon" as a reputable source - it is worth noting that he has stopped using the name "SS Free" for his forums). bonadea contributions talk 09:30, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
