Suspected sockpuppets
Modus operandi overview
  • All accounts edit tendentiously in World Mission Society Church of God and Ahn Sahng-hong. Anything unfavourable about the church is removed.
  • Warnings: All accounts have received warnings on their talk pages.
  • Edit warring: User:Nancyinthehouse, User:Sticks830, and IP:75.67.112.116 have received 24 hour blocks for EW.
  • Single purpose accounts: User:Galemw2, User:Watts9595, User:Lucykim55, and IP:75.67.112.116 are clear SPAs, as is User:Sticks830 effectively. All sleepers are SPAs.
1. Nancyinthehouse meat/sock with Galemw2 and Watts9595
2. Sticks830 (formerly Carly3737) confirmed socking on IP 75.67.112.116 and Watts9595 possibly socking on IP 75.67.112.116 and therefor likely identical to Sticks830
  • 2.1 User:Sticks830 = IP:75.67.112.116: In two instances talk page comments posted from IP:75.67.112.116 are signed "Sticks830", here and here, thus confirming that User:Sticks830 = IP:75.67.112.116.
  • 2.2 User:Sticks830 was formerly User:Carly3737, WP:CHUS.
  • 2.3 In an edit war on 8 July in World Mission Society Church of God IP:75.67.112.116 makes 5 reverts, [7], followed by 1 revert by User:Carly3737 (aka User:Sticks830). User:Carly3737 was indef blocked, [8], and User:Sticks830 and IP:75.67.112.116 were blocked for 24 hours, WP:3RRNB.
  • 2.4 21:50, 9 July 2013: User:Sticks830 fresh out from their 24 hour block continues the same edit war, Diff of World Mission Society Church of God, and Diff of World Mission Society Church of God.
  • 2.5 User:Watts9595 possibly socking on IP:75.67.112.116: In the edit war on 27 August 2013 in World Mission Society Church of God mentioned in section 1.14 above, the same -10,530 bytes edit is made thrice:
  • 2.6 User:Watts9595 a few minutes after account creation on 27 August copy-pastes User:Sticks830's version of the WMSCOG article from 11 July, (111 intermediate revisions by 21 users not shown) (No difference), cf. section 1.12 above.
  • 2.7 User:Watts9595 refer in their ES to an older 3O response also from on 11 July, [9] in a dispute involving User:Sticks830, cf. section 1.13 above.
  • 2.8 WP:SIMNAME between Carly3737 and Watts9595.
  • 2.9 Assumption: The above observations give reason to believe that just as User:Sticks830 (formerly User:Carly3737) is confirmed socking on IP 75.67.112.116, so is User:Watts9595 socking on IP 75.67.112.116, and logically User:Watts9595 then is identical to User:Sticks830. If the above behavioural evidence won't suffice I request endorsement of a CU to provide technical evidence to clarify the question.
3. Sticks830 possibly a sock of Nancyinthehouse
  • 3.1 User:Nancyinthehouse in March-June 2013 was active in both articles, cf. [10].
  • 3.2 20:55, 13 June 2013: User account Carly3737 (later renamed to Sticks830) was created, [11].
  • 3.3 21:04, 13 June 2013: Within 9 minutes from account creation User:Sticks830/Carly3737 make their first edit in World Mission Society Church of God and continues to be actively editing in the article and its talk page in June and July.
  • 3.4 After creation of User:Sticks830/Carly3737 on 13 June, User:Nancyinthehouse suddenly only makes 3 edits in the WMSCOG article and its talk pages during the next two months, cf. [12].
  • 3.5 User:Nancyinthehouse continues in the same period with editing Ahn Sahng-hong and its talk page. In the middle of a talk page comment 23:39, 11 July 2013, Diff of Talk:Ahn Sahng-hong, she writes:
  • 3.6 The above observations beg the question: have User:Nancyinthehouse and User:Sticks830/Carly3737 been socking on the same IP? I call for a clerk to endorse a CU providing technical evidence.
4. Nancyinthehouse possibly a continuation of Lucykim55
  • 4.1 03:14, 27 March 2013: User:Lucykim55, another clear SPA, cf. [13], was indef blocked for disruptive editing, Diff of User talk:Lucykim55.
  • 4.2 07:24, 27 March 2013: User account Nancyinthehouse was created, [14], only 4 hours later.
  • 4.3 07:47, 27 March 2013: User:Nancyinthehouse makes her first edit in a 6 year old section of Talk:Ahn Sahng-hong.
  • 4.4 WP:EVASION: "New accounts which engage in the same behavior as a banned editor or blocked account in the same context, and who appear to be editing Wikipedia solely for that purpose, are subject to the remedies applied to the editor whose behavior they are imitating." The observations above call for a clerk to endorse a CU providing technical evidence.
5. Possible sleepers
6. Addenda
  •  Editor note: @Someguy1221: I know SPI is backlogged and that you are only few to handle the workload, so thank you for what you do. But your decision to close at this point is not understood. The behavioural evidence summarized in e.g. section 1.25 ought to merit blocking. As should the confirmed IP socking in section 2. I ask for a reconsideration of this case. I also ask for a reply to my latest request for a more thorough CU for sleepers. Thanks. Sam Sailor Sing 07:34, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments[edit]
  • It doesn't look like socking from a technical standpoint. I only checked a couple accounts and they are all very  Unlikely to be the same user. Obviously,  CheckUser is not magic pixie dust, so I can't investigate canvassing or similar coordination. Reaper Eternal (talk) 10:40, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Meatpuppetry and/or offsite canvassing seems to be the likely explanation here, which may be dealt with at other venues. I cannot recall which case, but I know that World Mission Society Church of God has had meatpuppetry/canvassing issues in the past as well. Someguy1221 (talk) 01:22, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
