Contributions in the same articles Aleppo and Garegin Njdeh. The IP started editing after the user was blocked. Contributions: 78.100.100.154, Kevorkmail. User's published e-mail and the IP both have relation to Qatar. Quantum666 (talk) 11:49, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Clerk note: I understand this is brought here on the basis of block evasion, but I don't see the Abuse on the IP nor can I draw any connection between the IP and the user except the time. I am recommending close with no administrator action. -- DQ (t) (e) 01:56, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Evidence submitted by Grandmaster [edit]

Salah Mar1978 appears to be the same person as Kevorkmail. Both claim to be Armenians from Syria, and edit the same set of articles. Salah Mar1978 supported Kevorkmail in edit wars on pages Yerevan and Khojaly Massacre, which he previously never edited, and had no position of his own, only claimed that Kevorkmail was right: [1]. Kevorkmail was blocked twice recently for edit and move warring. The latest block expires next week. Apparently he couldn't wait because two accounts above were created since the latest block and have been toying with a few of Kevorkmail's photos: Saqer Quraysh marking as though they are now on Commons, and Յակոբեանց marking with NowCommons. There is also mysterious behavior at Commons and I have started Commons:Commons:Requests for checkuser/Case/Kevorkmail there. Are there even more socks here? Thank you. Wknight94 talk 13:33, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, I didn't even notice that there is an archive here. Kevorkmail has already been caught socking before... Wknight94 talk 13:40, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kevorkmail was blocked 2 days ago for one month for abusing multiple accounts: [2]. If you quickly look at Kevorkmail editing history it consists of editing Armenian and Syrian-Armenian articles.

He had previously added many pictures to the Damascus article: [3], I removed some of the pictures in the article and made them smaller, this IP shows up and reverts it:[4]

Kevorkmail has a history of adding many pictures to articles:[5][6]

IP continues to ad many pictures to Syria: [7] and Aleppo: [8]

Looking at that IPs contributions it also consists of editing Armenian and Syrian-Armenian related articles. He has previously edited the Damascus with his other sock: [9] Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 10:47, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • information Administrator note Checkuser won't connect an account to an IP. But I've blocked the IP for a week for evasion, and protected the article for a month. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 12:49, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • information Administrator note I am also going through Kevorkmail's image contributions with the delete button. Here and Commons, there are many edits to obscure sources like this one. He discovered that listing actual sources got images deleted so he started lying about them. Even among images I've kept so far, there are four different cameras listed in the EXIF data. Kevorkmail has lost all trust in my eyes. Wknight94 talk 13:19, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am thoroughly confused. I caught User:ArmOvak re-uploading User:Kevorkmail pictures that I had deleted - just a day after I blocked Kevorkmail at Commons. Looks like a clear sock. But I also see ArmOvak edit warring with Kevorkmail at Yerevan. Please clarify so I can either restore or keep deleted the ArmOvak images I just deleted at Commons. Thank you. Kevorkmail is currently blocked. Previously I filed another SPI where he had continued the exact same edits from this IP while being blocked, adding many pictures into Syrian related articles:[10]

Previously this IP had: [11] added The Jupiter temple in Damascus picture to the left, and added a picture of Chapel of Saint Ananias.

This has now continued from the exact same IP: [12].

Kevorkmail says on his talkpage that he lives in Qatar: [13] Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 11:46, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Kevorkmail (2007-2011) is an old account that is known for persistent sockpuppetry but wasn't banned indefinitely perhaps due to different policies at the time. Though, he is indefinitely banned for the reasons of "disruptive editing: constant edit warring, battleground mentality, and refusal to discuss issues. showing no desire to shape up." according to the block log. First of all, there is an obvious match between the names and origins of these users. Both are Syrian-Armenians and "Kevork" is the Armenian form of George, whereas "Kevo" is the abbreviation of it.[1] Although a lot happened between 2011 and 2017 (when Kevo327 was created), their interests match, such as the city of Aleppo and constituent places like Church of the Holy Trinity, Aleppo: [14][15][16][17][18]... Kevo327 initially had whole chunks from Kevorkmail's userpage in his: [19] According to his userpage, Kevorkmail lives/used to live in Qatar, whereas Kevo327 currently has a userbox on his userpage for the time in his locale, UTC+03:00, which is the same time zone as Qatar's.

Throughout these 6 Wikipedia-free years (assuming there weren't any more sockpuppets), based on his userboxes, he seems to have bettered his English later upgrading to a userbox for more advanced English, which would justify differences in edit summaries, if any. But he may be more of a battleground mentality, as Kevo327 didn't include the Turkish userbox, although Kevorkmail did have such a userbox. (Much of the Syrian-Armenians know Turkish, because many descend from genocide survivors originating in Turkish-speaking areas.) And Kevo327 has previously removed bunch of sources, categories, and content from Syrian Turkmen villages: [20][21][22] He is also involved in similar behavior evident from his recent edit history ([23]) as well as a past brief ban for edit-warring ([24]). So, I would say that similar problems continue regarding Kevorkmail/Kevo327's behavior on top of the fact that this is block evasion. Ayıntaplı (talk) 04:30, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kevorkmail was subject to an arbitration enforcement ([25] and WP:AA2#List_of_users_placed_under_supervision) despite which Kevo327 still edits on the relevant areas and eventually got into questionable situations, resulting in a brief block and an ANI thread this year, where there are quite a bit of interesting points.
On another note, while creating this investigation, I expected that it won't be straightforward, because it has been such a long time since Kevorkmail's ban and Kevo327's creation. Feeling pretty confident that Kevorkmail and Kevo327 are the same person, I am further interested in how time would factor out in this decision, as I couldn't find any guidelines about such a situation. Ayıntaplı (talk) 17:17, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • While it seems likely that they are connected to the previous account, taking the information in the report at face value, it's also a 6 year old account, has been actively editing for a bit over two years, and there's very little by way of warnings or other feedback on their talk history, with only one (non-accidental) block from almost exactly two years ago. While they shouldn't have returned to editing without first successfully appealing their block, I'm not particularly inclined to use a block from 2011 to indef them now. Notably, they have been heavily editing in contentious areas and there's nothing at AE and basically one significant ANI thread which resulted in no action. If there's a major problem with their behavior I'd expect them to have been blocked or given AE sanctions about it by now, since the topic area they're principally interested in is under DS. I'll leave the SPI open for a second opinion but I'm not inclined to take any action under WP:SOCK here. ST47 (talk) 06:35, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
