Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Please run checkuser, Obvious gaming of autoconfirmed to post spam like Simon Gillett (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Simon_Gillett), Simon Gillett user's page was blocked as sock puppet on 26 November 2023. Now, this user is using older sleepers that were previously stale. I'm sure there are more out there. But checkuser should help as they might have created a lot of sleeper accounts to game in future. 39.48.13.144 (talk) 23:57, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Can you provide a list of the suspected sock accounts? CheckUser is usually used to compare IP information from different accounts to determine if they are being used by the same person. I don't think it can proactively seek out socks. (Non-SPI clerk comment) Liu1126 (talk) 15:12, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Clerk, CheckUser, and/or patrolling admin comments[edit]

OK, from an edit analysis it seems like Colsakh (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) may be linked to TranskriptorOfficial (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) via Draft:Transkriptor, although the only overlap I notice is in the article topic. In turn, Colsakh is suspected of being a sock of Blmmta (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki), per GeneralNotability's block rationale. Blmmta in turn is listed in Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Amansharma111 as possibly a member of that sockfarm. Blmmta is also linked to ExponentialG (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) again per GeneralNotability's block rationale, and Kaldrake (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) to Amansharma111 by Smartse's block rationale. Kaldrake has edits on a common article with 31.121.61.162 (talk+ · tag · contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RBLs · proxy check · block user · spi block · block log · cross-wiki contribs · CheckUser (log)). Looks like all of them are blocked for spamming/UPE-related matters. I notice that User talk:TranskriptorOfficial has an unblock request.

This SPI filing does not establish what Gingtomp (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) has to do with these accounts, or why we should suspect sockpuppetry. I imagine it's something in the private Upwork webpages linked above? And the reporting IP being blocked for being a P2P proxy does not exactly instill confidence.

My sense is that some of the accounts I listed above should be tagged or processed in Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Amansharma111; but for Gingtomp, the topic of this SPI, we need more evidence. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 09:10, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you have off-wiki evidence of paid editing, you can submit it to [email protected]. But as Jo-Jo Eumerus said, there's not enough evidence to do anything from a SPI perspective and all of their articles have been deleted or draftified anyway, so I'm going to close this for now.
