Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Came across these users after a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations#Second impeachment trial of Donald Trump GAN with @Some Dude From North Carolina: I noticed that Vesper flying chrysanthemum, a new user as of June 23rd, did a quickpass of Second impeachment trial of Donald Trump at Good Articles without completing an in-depth check of the 6 good criteria. Some Dude from North Carolina mentioned at the about GAN talk page discussion that after Vesper flying chrysanthemum nominated Tom Vasel at GAN, a brand new account named The free random article quickpassed the article after creating their account on June 25th.

Looking around these two users contributions, I noticed quite a lot of new users (all without a userpage like Vesper and free random) at Xi’an. Their first user edit were made from May to June 2021. They are Flang xfot reapsent aa, The capn of the, Wiki yeas Adelaide of the c and Godsstone. I believe the first three are definitely related due to the mispelling in their username. Of these users:

1) Godsstone, vesper and free random made consecutive edits at Jinan by revising/removing large amounts of content. 2) Godsstone and Vesper appear at Be Best in consecutive edits. Goddstone mentions they added references in order to meet the GAN criteria. This was made after Be Best was nominated at GAN by Vesper. 3) Goddstone also edited Tom Vasel almost a week before The free random article edited this article on June 25th. 4) Godsstone and vesper appear in consecutive edits at Xi'an made throughout multiple days.

With other Godsstone edits, I see both Godsstone and Flang Xdot edited Xi'an and Be Best - which suggests a common interest with Goddstone in Chinese geography and American politics. They also both appeared at Adelaide and Melbourne.

For Flang Xdot repasent aa, they have also edited White House Rose Garden and IUCN Red List. At White House Rose Garden, Wiki yaes adeliade of the c appears a week after Flang Xdot's edit was reverted. As for IUCN Red List, The cappn of the undit a revert of Flang Xdot's edit three days later after another user reverted.

Both Wiki yaes adeliade and The cappn of have edited Xi'an within days of each other, while Flang edited Xi'an a few days before capn. Flang, Wiki yeas, cappan, goddstone and vesper all contributed major edits to Xi'an by removing/revising parts of the article. With the overlapping articles in common between these newer accounts (Chinese geography, American politics, Australian geography) made in a 1 month period, plus the passing of Tom Vasel by a brand new account days after it was nominated at GAN by a newer user, I believe there is some sockpuppetry involved with these accounts. I also would like to request CU since of the recentcy between these accounts, especially since The free random article made their account today (June 25th). If you have any comments or questions, please let me know. Thanks! Please note that I mispelt the username. • Technically, there doesn't appear to be any overlap in editing. However, this does look like hopping between accounts to evade scrutiny, so the hammer's coming out.  Blocked and tagged all except afd... (they're just a filter hit, not an actual account). @GeneralNotability you tagged Afddddeffccccccc, was that intentional? -- RoySmith (talk) 19:26, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    Nope. Untagging. GeneralNotability (talk) 19:56, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
