Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

  • Aydın memmedov2000, edits in Azerbaijani topics, uses the term "informacion". Aydin memmedov2000 was Indef blocked by El_C on 29 January 2022.

Pretty clear that Artur vindorfen is not a "new user". Their 6th edit(12:17, 4 February 2022, +2,757‎ N Draft:Huseyn Ali Khan) was to draft a new article(including references and blockquotes). Artur vindorfen's 20th edit, they left a google book link on user:Beshogur's talk page which has .az. Oddly enough Aydin memmedov2000's google book link on Beshogur's talk page is also .az. I think Talysh Cadusii is a sock of Aydın memmedov2000 for multiple reasons;

  1. Talysh Cadusii made his first edit on 19 May 2022, not long after Aydın memmedov2000's most recent confirmed sock was blocked (6 May) [32].
  2. This was Talysh Cadusii's very first edit [33], that looks very advanced for a 'new user'. This was his edit two days after his first edit, on 21 May [34]. Again, very advanced for a new user.
  3. Like Aydın memmedov2000 [35] [36] [37], Talysh Cadusii also uses Turkish sources about the Qara Qoyunlu [38]
  4. Talysh Cadusii edits a lot in the Azerbaijani language [39] [40] [41], just like A LOT of the socks did [42] [43] [44] [45]
  5. Just like Aydın memmedov2000 and his sock army [46] [47] [48] [49] [50] [51], Talysh Cadusii shows a heavy interest in Aq Qoyunlu/Qara Qoyunlu related articles, [52] [53] [54] [55]
  6. I think this might be the most obvious sign that he is indeed Aydın memmedov2000's sock [56]. Classic Aydın memmedov2000 edit, changing the link to Turkoman [57] [58] [59]
  7. Talysh Cadusii randomly throws out the word vandal [60] just like Aydın memmedov2000 and his socks [61] [62]
  8. The Shirvan Khanate article, which is only edited by a few people, has been edited by Talysh Cadusii [63], just like Aydın memmedov2000 and his sock Artur vindorfen has edited there [64] [65]
  9. I honestly think that 'Talysh Cadusii' (very convenient name) is pretending to be of Talysh background. Why? Because what was most likely another IP sock of Aydın memmedov2000 also pretended to be Iranian/having an Iranian interest by making random edits in Iran-related articles [66] [67] Aydin's sock have been indeffed multiple times now, he is bound to try something new to stay hidden.
  10. Right after I openly suspected Talysh Cadusii of possibly being a sock [68], he immediately went back to editing Talysh-related articles [69] [70] [71]. Very convenient. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HistoryofIran (talkcontribs)

Only a few days after yet another sock of Aydin memmedov2000 was blocked (30 May), this IP started editing again (quite the coincidence). I had already suspected this IP of socking before but didn't bother to file an SPI. Guess that was a mistake.

Both changed "Lankaran Khanates" to Talysh Khanates" (Sock [72] - IP [73])

Both write "vandalizm" and also generally makes random accusations of vandalism when there is none; IP [74] [75] [76] [77] [78] - Sock [79] [80]

Like one of Aydin's confirmed sock [81], and another IP which is most likely a sock as well [82], he edits in Bayram Khwaja [83], specifcally the transliteration(s) in the lede.

Like one of the socks [84] [85], he attempts to add/re-add the Azeri transliteration in Fatali Khan [86] --HistoryofIran (talk) 17:41, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not long after yet another sock of Aydın memmedov2000 was blocked (3 June), this new user appeared (17 June).

He reinstated the exact same edit [87] [88] as an IP [89] [90] who is most likely a sock of Aydın memmedov2000 per the two previous reports ([91] see point 9) ([92] second last line)

Just like Aydın memmedov2000 and his sock army [93] [94] [95] [96] [97] [98] [99], Shimon444 shows to be very interested in Aq Qoyunlu/Qara Qoyunlu related articles [100] [101] [102] [103] [104]

Shimon444 has also edited in Battle of Malatya [105], an article created by Aydın memmedov2000 on 22 January 2022‎ and barely ever touched since.

Azeri language's very first edit was the very impressive [119] in Azerbaijani language. There's no way a brand new user is so well tuned with expanding an article and citing sources. Moreover, there is a specific part in that edit which is very similar to that of Aydın memmedov2000's sock [120]; both diffs add <ref name=":1"> in front of "Garden of Pleasures by Fuzûlî in Azerbaijani from 16th century."

The majority of Azeri language's edits are also in Azerbaijani language and involves expanding it [121] [122] [123] [124] [125] [126] [127], just like a LOT of Aydın memmedov2000's socks [128] [129] [130] [131] [132] [133] [134].

Azeri language edits in Talysh-related articles [135] [136], just like Aydın memmedov2000's socks did [137] [138] [139]

Azeri language randomly throws out the word "vandal" [140] just like Aydın memmedov2000's socks [141] [142] [143] [144]

IP's addition [150] in Azerbaijani language is very similar to that of another Aydın memmedov2000's socks [151], both talking about the development of Azeri, the book of Dädä Qorqut/Dede Korkut, Nasimi, etc.

Also, it's no secret that Aydın memmedov2000 is obsessed with the Azerbaijani language article [152] [153] [154] [155] [156] [157] [158] [159]. HistoryofIran (talk) 12:54, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

07 November 2022[edit]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

There are so many recent cases of indeffed users socking under the guise of another ethnicity that it might not even be Aydın memmedov2000 (who is actually Azerbaijani). Much of this is related to the ongoing massive-off Wiki campaign by Turkic-language speakers [165]. Oh well, here comes my reasons;

  1. User is named "Bengalbengal" and their first edit was a unhelpful addition of a link to something so obvious as "empire" in Bengal Sultanate [166], thus trying to fit in as a Bengali.
  2. Right after it seems they already got tired of masquerading and immediately started making nationalistic Turkic edits, such as trying to Turkify the Kazakhs further by changing "Turkic speaking ethnic group" to "Turkic group" [167] and removing their mixed Mongol heritage [168]. Aydın memmedov2000 also previously did something similar when masquerading as a Talysh (first edit in Talysh-related article) -> immediately starts editing in Turkic-related articles ([169] [170])
  3. At Qara Qoyunlu they started making unsourced changes [171]. It's no secret that Aydın memmedov2000 is obsessed with Aq Qoyunlu/Qara Qoyunlu related articles (eg [172] [173] [174] [175] [176] [177] [178] [179])
  4. They went to the talk page one of our fellow editors and started WP:Canvassing to him in Azerbaijani; [180], which Google translates to "Hi, I would like you to take a look at the water sweater article. It's changed every second by someone and claims that the Kazakhs are Turkish speaking mongols. I took it back, but it came again, someone more authoritative should talk to him, I'm new." In other words, they are trying to get help in their nationalistic mission at the Kazakhs article. Aydın memmedov2000 has also posted on the talk page of the exact same user with the exact same title "Iyi günler" [181]
  5. They also wrote to another editor [182], writing the following in Azerbaijani; "It would be great to write a meqale about Ziyadoglu's moon too! Even though this moon is one of the well-known moons of Azerbaijan, there is no spelling about it in the English wikipedia. It is unfortunate that how can the history of Azerbaijan be written here? At least more seeds were given. Thanks for the little history"

So... what Bengali knows fluent Azerbaijani and is fixated on Turkic related articles?

  • This is what writes on his userpage:” Hello, I'm new. Don't worry about my name being bengali, i'm not bengali,😂 i just wrote my name just like that. I am ethnically Azerbaijani, but I am from Istanbul. You can speak English, Azerbaijani and Turkish with me.” So, indeed, he is not Bengali but Azerbaijani. Also, an IP confirmed to be used by the sockpuppet had written a message in Turkish on my talk page ([183]), so the confirmed sockpuppet knows Turkish just like this user. Ayıntaplı (talk) 14:27, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

what's going on here? I just opened this page and I've been marked as a puppet why? Look at these ridiculous accusations. Since when has it been a problem to speak Turkish with the users? and I never said I was of Bengali descent. I just wrote my name like that, dear, that's all. moreover, I haven't even contributed to the Qara Qoyunlu and Aq Qoyunlu articles yet. The change I made in the Bengal sultanate is for trial purposes only. (actually it wasn't even a change but whatever) Bengalbengal (talk) 22:40, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Aydın memmedov2000's latest sock Bengalbengal was indeffed on 8 November [188].

Qajari first started editing from the 10 November [189].

The userpage of Qajari claims to be of a "Turkish" background [190]. Yet their name is "Qajari" (i.e. Qajar dynasty), which has no connection to Turkey whatsoever, but it does in fact have some connection to Azerbaijan, where Aydın memmedov2000 is from. Aydın memmedov2000 has attempted twice to masquerade as another ethnicity, such as his recent sock where he was "Bengali".

For someone of Turkish origin, they sure are greatly interested in Azerbaijan related stuff, and some obscure articles a that [191] [192] [193] [194] [195] [196]. Some of these diffs include a change from "Azeri" to "Azerbaijani", something Aydın memmedov2000 often does (eg [197] [198] [199])

They even edited an article named "Aydın (name)" [200]. You might ask yourself, why would he do something which could possibly easily expose him? Well I don't mean to be condescending, but Aydın memmedov2000 has never shown to be the smartest or most careful sockpuppeteer. HistoryofIran (talk) 22:29, 14 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT after checkuser; I had already suspected Egoilibrium of also being a sock, since they randomly appeared around the same time and made a typical Aydın memmedov2000 edit of adding a few links [201]. This time they added an article that was created 4 days before by one of our veteran users. What brand new user knows of this pretty unknown subject and article just recently created and barely linked? --HistoryofIran (talk) 13:12, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT 2: Egoilibrium more or less re-added [202] the same edit as Qajari [203]. This also occurred around the same time Aydin's IP sock was editing [204] [205] [206], this is not a coincidence. I believe the checkuser combined with the suspicious details here is more than enough to indef all these linked accounts. --HistoryofIran (talk) 22:41, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yet another IP that starts with "37.26.", is located in Baku, and edits in Qara Qoyunlu related articles [234] just like Aydin has done countless times ([235] [236] [237]).

When looking at the /24 IP range this IP belongs to (37.26.29.0/24) it unsuprisingly shows another IP that was used by Aydin (37.26.29.15), which got blocked too.

The IP range (37.26.32.0/21) used by Aydin was recently blocked, I think this one needs the same treatment. See also here for the amount of 37.26 IPs Aydin has used [238]. HistoryofIran (talk) 14:04, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

IP geolocates to Baku in Azerbaijan, just like every other IP of Aydin. IPs first edit is in an article I have been focusing on [239], something Aydin usually does, even in the most obscure articles I have touched (eg [240] [241] [242] [243] [244]).

The IPs very second edit is attempting to privately contact another user [245]. And with the exact same title ("Iyi gunler") as two of Aydın memmedov2000's previous comments at other user talk pages [246] [247] HistoryofIran (talk) 12:24, 19 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IP is still active, making the exact same edit in the exact same article Hasan Ali (Qara Qoyunlu) [248] as Aydın memmedov2000 and his socks [249] [250] [251] --HistoryofIran (talk) 12:13, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Brand new user who conveniently edits in the same area and around same time as Aydin starts socking again (see the SPI up above).

Not only is their very first article in a Aq Qoyunlu related article (as the vast majority of Aydin's edits are), but also very similar editing wise, compare;

Newkatana: Changes "Ak Koyunlu" to "Aq Qoyunlu" and "Turkmen" to "Turkoman"

Aydin's socks: Changes "Ak Koyunlu" to "Aq Qoyunlu" Changes "Turkmen" to "Turkoman" HistoryofIran (talk) 11:26, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but this user (and their IP up above) is still active. Could this please get checked? --HistoryofIran (talk) 14:03, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
EDIT after the checkuser: All those accounts were created around the same time. These are deffo all socks of Aydin memmedov2000. Enderman222's addition (a very advanced first edit, not something new users do) at Talysh language [252] (Talysh-related articles are targeted much by Aydin) is kinda similiar to that of Aydin's sock Talysh Cadusii ([253]). Yilmaz demirtaş immediately edited [254] the addition of Aydin's IP sock at Turkoman (ethnonym) [255] --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:31, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Yet another brand new user with a random name whose third edit is quite impressive for a starter, with the formation of the citations [256]. Like Aydin (such as this recent case [257]), this user also edits in Azerbaijan/Iran related articles and adds information cited by sources which doesn't even state the added info (the first diff that is).

Right after Digitalismss' edit, a IP (91.242.10.220) whose range [258] has been heavily used by Aydin since at least 19 May 2022, started editing [259] [260] [261]. They also started editing right after each other at Azerbaijani language [262] [263], an article heavily targeted by Aydin as seen in my past SPIs (eg [264] [265]). Aydin editing right after between his accounts is not unusual, see for example this report where I mentioned the same [266].

Also, at Afsharid Iran, said IP also added info and a source which didn't support added info either [267]. HistoryofIran (talk) 12:55, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: Thanks @Callanecc:. Could we also please block the IP range up above? It has only been used by Aydin since at least August 2021. --HistoryofIran (talk) 00:40, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

They just started editing three days ago and from the bat knew how to cite sources (and in various ways a that) like a veteran user (eg [268] [269] [270] [271] [272]).

Other IPs in the same range of this IP has been used by Aydın memmedov2000, such as this one [273]. In fact, the range that this IP is part of is generally disruptive, having the vast majority of its edits reverted across several Wikipedias [274] [275] (Ctrl + F "reverted"). Now you may ask, what does other Wiki projects have to do with this? Well, I recently discovered that Aydın memmedov2000 not only have been bothering the English Wiki these few years, but the Italian, Russian, French, and so on Wikis too. Which can for example be seen in my global lock request for one of his other ranges [276]

IP also misuses the (often random) sources he cites, adding his own info in the mix [277], just like Aydın memmedov2000 [278] [279]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Even if this is not Aydın memmedov2000, there's no way it isn't a sock:

  1. Pretty, random, sockuppetry-ish name "I,m and i,m"
  2. At Azerbaijani philosophy, they are removing info about the history of Azerbaijani philosophy, calling it "Fakeee", which looks like an attempt to masquerade as a non-Azerbaijani and someone who dislikes them. Funny enough, their only edit outside the English wiki is in the Azerbaijani wiki, where their edit summary is in Azerbaijani, and they are changing the figures ethnicity from "türk" to Azərbaycanlı (Azerbaijani) [280]. Aydin has also masqueraded as a non-Azerbaijani in the past (eg [281]). Do note that the Azerbaijani philosophy article was recently targeted by an IP, which is no doubt an IP of Aydin (see the SPI up above).
  3. They also edited Iskandar Beg Munshi (Eg [282]) and Qara Qoyunlu [283], both articles also targeted by Aydin (eg [284] [285]) HistoryofIran (talk) 20:05, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Classic Aydin edit [286], changing the link to Turkoman (compare [287] [288] [289])

Knows how to format citations right off the bat [290], very similar to the way Aydins socks do it (eg [291])

Attempts to remove the word "Azeri" [292] like one of Aydins socks [293] in Azerbaijani language, an article which has been heavily targeted by Aydins socks (eg [294] [295] [296] [297]

IP belongs to the 188.227.0.0/16 range that has been used persistently by Aydin (eg [298] [299]). In fact the vast majority of the edits of this range from today till January 2021 has been reverted, and thus I would respectfully like to request a block of this range, as it only causes trouble. Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Brand new user, does not act like one.

  1. "Spasticgamer" sounds like a classic sock name.
  2. "I haven't been on wikipedia before." is what they claim, yet this says otherwise:
  3. [300] Their first edit was (a POVish edit) copy-pasting a very recent (and controversial) addition to the article, so they have clearly at least watched what was going on.
  4. [301] They're brand new, but knows how to ping users and who to ping in this new thread they created at Talk:Khanates of the Caucasus?
  5. [302] Knows how to cite/format sources and quote information like a veteran.
  6. For being "new" to Wikipedia, this user sure "knows" a lot about me right off the bat, an apparent stranger: "You see wikipedia only from your own perspective and do not respect any other opinion."
  7. Right above the thread that Spasticgamer just created [303] is another similar thread by Aydın memmedov2000's sock DifaiTal [304].
  8. Khanates of the Caucasus is a subject that has Aydın memmedov2000 has been fixated on for some time. Well, mostly in non-English Wikipedias where they thought they could get away with it (see the editing activity of Bullmentim and the IPs, eg [305] [306] [307])
  9. They first started editing yesterday, which coincides with recent events. Only a few days before that, Aydın memmedov2000 was still highly active, editing through one of the very ranges [308] that had recently been blocked in the English Wikipedia. On 17 July, part of that range got globally blocked too [309]

Even if this is not Aydın memmedov2000, this behaviour is too suspicious and far from that of a traditional journey of a new user. HistoryofIran (talk) 12:45, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Based on what I can see, it's at least  Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely), technically. The editing looks pretty likely too. Blocking and requesting lock. (Frankly, I'd probably block just for the username, which I see as a WP:DISRUPTNAME violation.) Girth Summit (blether) 14:30, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Only a few days ago was another sock of Aydin revealed and blocked [310]. This user appears right after, and does the same things as Aydin:

  1. Formats citations like a pro [311] (just the fact that they immediately started creating a draft article and talk page by using a Wiki tool says its all [312])
  2. Claims to be of non-Azerbaijani ethnicity [313] (Aydin has several times larped as another ethnicity, eg [314]), but so far all their edits are in Azerbaijani-related articles, such as the Qara Qoyunlu [315], heavily targeted by past Aydin socks as seen in almost every SPI report. Also, very niche ones such as the afromentioned "Khatai Tabrizi" (where Russian sources are used, Turks of Turkey dont speak Russian, Azerbaijanis still do though [316] and Baharlu (ethnic group) ([317]), the latter which was also previously edited by another sock of Aydin [318]. HistoryofIran (talk) 16:10, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT: In typical Aydin fashion they are disrupting other Wikipedias as well [319]. Notice how that exact article was previously disrupted [320] by Bullmentim, another sock of Aydin. --HistoryofIran (talk) 21:38, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Brand new user far from the traditional Wiki journey, expanding articles with multiple complex citation formations right off the bat [321][322] [323] [324], and also edits in articles targeted by past Aydın memmedov2000 socks (Azerbaijani language‎ and Music of Azerbaijan).

Aydın memmedov2000 is often stalking me and editing articles I've recently edited, compare it to this; I've recently edited (Alexander Kasimovich Kazembek), where Samir huseynov2 appeared right after, protesting against the usage of "Persian", similar to these two threads by Aydın memmedov2000 socks [325] [326]. Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Range has been used by Aydin countless times ([327] [328] [329] [330] [331]). The range was even ultimately range-blocked for three months [332], but it looks like a longer block is needed, as they are now back. --HistoryofIran (talk) 17:45, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Besides the obvious interest in Azerbaijani related stuff, they also have an interest in Talysh related stuff [333] [334], just like Aydin (eg [335] [336]).

Right off the bat they write to another user [337], which they also recently tried to ping through one of their other socks [338].

They're also very interested in Origin of the Azerbaijanis ([339] [340] [341] [342] [343]), just like Aydins socks [344] [345] [346]. And like Aydin often does (there are countless examples, cf. the recent SPIs for example), the IP adds sourced info right off the bat.

Like Aydin has done countless times (eg [347]), the IP also edits outside the English Wikipedia, trying to POV push there with their Google Translate [348] [349] [350]

Could another and longer range-block please be made? HistoryofIran (talk) 17:45, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

The previous IP sock of Aydın memmedov2000 (which was blocked in the previous SPI [351]) tried to act as if they were not a sock: WTF?? I am changing my page name Hamid Huseyni because I forgot my password. Also, since when do I have a sockpoppet ?

So they tried to use their new sock account as a shield for not socking. This may sound silly, but Aydin's never been the smartest at avoiding their block, as can be seen in the other SPIs. They had indeed created an account named Hamid Huseyni on the exact same date they wrote that [352] (and the user was editing around the same time as the IP, so they clearly did not lose their password as claimed). I suspect that this is a sleeper account they are waiting to utilize after some months to make it harder to connect it to the previous user accounts of Aydin.

Would really appreciate if you could check if Aydın memmedov2000 has other accounts laying around. HistoryofIran (talk) 18:56, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Brand new account created (9 September 2023) shortly after the emergence of recent Aydin socks as seen in the SPI archive.

Like the rest of the Aydın memmedov2000 socks, Reptilian3322 doesn't have a traditional Wiki journey. Like Aydın memmedov2000 generally does initially with their socks, Reptilian3322 knows how to cite citations properly and add lots of info right off the bat [353] [354], one of the articles being a GA article expanded by me (Aydin often stalks me, see eg [355]). In diff 2 they also cite Russian sources, just like Aydin [356]

Reptilian3322 has an interest in Talysh related stuff [357] [358] just like Aydin does (eg [359] [360])

Like Aydin [361], Reptilian3322 use "Turkish" [362] when referring to the Turkic languages in general, which is a bit controversial and confusing, since it also refers to the Turks of Turkey. HistoryofIran (talk) 13:01, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

  1. Random western name, but edits in a quite specific/obscure Azerbaijani-related article. Compare these western names they used [380] [381] [382]
  2. Aydin is well known for stalking me, conveniently the first (and only) edit of this user was in a new article created and expanded by me.
  3. Engages in Azerbaijani pov pushing (something Aydin is notorious for) by misusing a primary source, disregarding the cited WP:RS [383]. Formats the citation quite well, unusual for a new user, and fits well with many of Aydin's sock citing citations well right off the bat (eg [384] [385]) HistoryofIran (talk) 22:10, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
