Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

The article was originally created by Arabianlenzo17 who happen to be one of the PaullyMatthew sock accounts. [1] When another user started removing edits from Arabianlenzo17, another new account appeared called Harar-Egypt8999 and restored the sock additions. [2] The IP accounts are also massively contributing to the article at a similar rate like the sock accounts when you check the bytes even touching other articles that were previously edited by the sock master. [3] Historically, the articles that were created by this sock master would get deleted and it would be wise to delete this article where the sock infestation is currently taking place.

The IP account added four thousand bytes to Isaaq Sultanate two days later Harar-Egypt8999 would touch the article even attempting to correct the grammatical additions from the IP account. It's clear they're both related. [4] Ayaltimo (talk) 17:27, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ayaltimo why do you say Arabianlenzo17 is a PaullyMatthews sock? They do seem to have had multiple accounts (Arabianlenzo17, Arabianlenzo178, Arabianlenzo1788, Arabianlenzo17898, Arabianlenzo28). And there was also an account rename along the way which was handled by Cabayi. But I'm not seeing how they're connected to Paully. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:55, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Alexf: I see you blocked one of the above as a sock, but no indication in the log who you thought they were a sock of. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:57, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets

[edit]

This user focuses on Oromo people history and uses original research or fringe theories. The first edit they made is of the obscure article the master created [5]. Whats similar is both accounts are using google australia to reference as can be seen here in the edit summary [6] as well as the draft article sourcing [7]. Other evidences include fringe claims that the various conflicts were centered around Oromo or that they were among the main opposition. [8]. This could be another sock master as a case has been filed here [9]. Whats interesting is the other sock uses the google Australia links as well adding content regarding conflict between "Issa" and "Nole" Oromo similar to this user editing the same article readding identical reference. This is not true, this user is simply upset because I had mentioned information about the Oromo people who took conflict in the Ethiopian-Adal War inwich he disagrees. After adding sourced content they quickly went to revert it [12] and took to the talk page. They claim my edits are original research but they have no literal evidence. If I edit a article related to Oromo history what does that have to do with a unrelated sockpuppet. Magherbin has simply just been targeting me at this point by claiming that my edits are "fringe theories in my books" [13] even though they are sourced, and after addressing me one of the sourcers were not approvable I provided them another one. [14] another incident is when me and another user got into a little disagreement, after reverting each other's edits we went to the talk page and tried to be more civil, and not get banned [15] but Magherbin reported me excluding the other user who was also "edit warring" and leaves a link showing the other user approaching me on the talk page but never shows my response again targeting me and leaving the other user alone. [16] I found it hard to communicate with Magherbin as during discussions they bring up completely irrelevant topics (Werra Sheikh) [17] Magherbin simply just has a agenda against the fact that the Oromo people were in the Adal plateu before the 16th century and is just upset. I am waiting for a CU to either respond or use the tool just as they are because came out of no where. Anyway Ciao Lostglowlight982 (talk

Even the writing style are the same ending your replies by @'ing [18] [19] Magherbin (talk) 17:59, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lostglowlight982 (talkcontribs) 05:40, 27 December 2022 (UTC) I literally recently searched up how to directly reply to someone on Wikipedia and it literally tells me to do so [20] Magherbin is constantly pushing a case with no evidence what does Google Australia have to do with this case. This user is just targeting me at this point with a case that needs some fixing up. You say that I'm a sock but your evidence for me being a sockpuppet is because "I add fringe theories" when your the only one who claims that they are "fringe theories" Magherbin also thinks that because I edit articles related to the Oromo people that I'm a sockpuppet which is really sad. Magherbin knows that his/she's case has a lack of evidence so at the end of their edit he/she accuses me of another sock puppet who has been inactive for years. Apparently I'm related to this other sock who was banned years ago. Magherbin says that I added content about a Nole Issa conflict but he/she shows no evidence and adds a irrelevant link of myself adding content about the Nole where I never even mentioned the Issa War Nor does the puppet. Literally look at the links he/she provides [21] [22] is there any similarity in what I added and what the the sockpuppet. This user is accusing me with no evidence and mentions irrelevant things in their case nothing I haven't mentioned before. Lostglowlight982 (talk) 08:47 27 December (UTC)[reply]

First time i've seen an editor deny making their own edit. On the statement that Issa werent mentioned in the diff let me quote it here "they also went on to record that the Nole had subjugated the Issa around the city multiple times and that the Issa were scared of the Nole." Magherbin (talk) 01:18, 28 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I never claimed that there was a War " the Nole had subjugated the Issa around the city multiple times, and that the Issa are scared of the Nole" the puppet literally just waffles of mentioning Ogaden and irrelevant things plus the puppet literally never mentioned a Nole-Issa War if you actually read your own link that's support to support your claim you'd know the puppet literally says "In 1874 the Rabat dori under Orfo Jilo Biko, and Garad Adam Ashabiyye attacked the Isaa in the area in a attempt to secure their borders with the Eygyptians, however this so Called conquest of the Ogaden desert resulted in many Nole oromo territory being captured". Where do they mention a Isse Nole conflict. You've ran out of ideas at this point. Randomly accusing me of being a puppet if your going say I a puppet atleast get what your trying to say right. • CheckUser requested - The evidence looks sufficient to justify CheckUser but I'd like the technical evidence to be sure before blocking (there's a recent case in the archive). Thanks. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 02:21, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Callanecc, I think one of us must be getting confused about what year it is - I'm not seeing any recent cases in the archive, and all the old accounts are stale. There is some data in the CU logs, so I took a look for comparison. Lostglowlight982 is using what appear to be residential proxies, so geolocation data might require a pinch of salt, but they all look to be in a stable location, which is on a different continent from the IPs I see in the logs. There's been a considerable time gap, and people do move around, so I have no objection to a block if you have convinced yourself based on the editing habits, but there's no technical connection that I can detect based on the data available. • Oops Girth Summit, I need to adjust my calendar. The behavioural evidence by itself gets close to the level needed for a block but, given the CU result, I'm not convinced enough by it to justify a block. Closing with no further action.
