Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

Exact same edit on Calvin Lo, which is subject to a lot of sock puppetry and likely COI editing. Adding content from unreliable puff-piece sources. Appears to have been churning through low-quality edits in order to inflate edit count past 500. Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:38, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suspected sockpuppets[edit]

I checked ABCWorldChanger (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) because they are using the same WP:GAME technique as other accounts at WP:Sockpuppet investigations/NagalimNE and have a massive amount of page overlap. The difference is that their edit history is much longer - they seem to have been gaming ECP instead of AC, to edit Calvin Lo. Spicy (talk) 10:46, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • ABC is also attempting to obfuscate their technical data. Nonetheless they are confirmed, and quite unambiguously so (CUs see [1]) to:
  • Good4AllGoog and AMY1879 were previously blocked for obvious ECP gaming, and reported as socks at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/AMY1879/Archive. These accounts also edited Calvin Lo. All four accounts have made ~500 minor edits. The following two accounts showed up in the same check with some technical differences from the above group, but the same profile as each other; I observe that they also seem to be gaming ECP:
  • Some accounts in this group are very old and I wonder if they're compromised. OK, signing off for the night. If any other CUs want to take a look... good luck! Spicy (talk) 02:57, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also technically linked are:
  • See [2] for AAonlyA. Spicy (talk) 10:55, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • IntelliWorks (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · spi block · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki) has multiple technical overlaps with ABC and Good4AllGoog. The nature of the data means that this could possibly be spurious, and at first glance their contributions look fairly different. However, their early contributions show a similar pattern of apparent ECP gaming, which they were warned for.
  • I am going to block ABCWorldChanger, Wiki.Apt, LondonAngel4Ever, AAonlyA, CindyF444 and Khalid.Karim based on the totality of the technical and behavioural evidence.  Behavioural evidence needs evaluation for the remaining accounts and a technical 2O may be a good idea as well. I intend to split this case from Charsromps when this is done; I think it is possible that this is the same operator, but these accounts constitute a behaviourally and technically distinct group that is worth tracking separately. Spicy (talk) 00:57, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Concur that Tariq=Shariq, also concur that it looks like gaming in a manner similar to this group; there's also some technical linkage with Khalid.Karim. Given that, and the fact that there's 0 reason anyone should be gaming edit count/ECP, let alone with two accounts, I'm indeffing both. --Blablubbs (talk) 13:50, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also blocking IntelliWorks. I think the technical case is actually pretty strong, and given the behavioural parallels to the accounts that they match technically, it's enough for a block. --Blablubbs (talk) 13:54, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks. I've split the case from NagalimNE, tagged all, and reblocked the accounts I blocked so that the block notice points to the correct SPI. Would you mind doing the same for the accounts you blocked, Blablubbs? Spicy (talk) 21:07, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Spicy: Sure, done! Your ping didn't go through for some reason – I'm glad I still caught this. If you ever don't feel like waiting for me for these sorts of clerical reblocks, you have my blessing to just do it yourself and tack on a note that I'm the one to blame. --Blablubbs (talk) 19:51, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks, closing. Spicy (talk) 21:56, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
