HeadleyDown/DaveRight/HongKong sockfarm

[edit]

This is a "new" account that immediately began to edit the Neuro-Linguistic Programming page along the lines of sockfarm users who were banned, undoing edits made in the months since the bans were put in effect. This user is clearly already familiar with wikijargon and in his first day has already engaged in a revert war (see User talk:AlanBarnet). Shunpiker 00:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Additional information needed: I need a record of IPs, or a recent sockpuppet, to check against. Maybe David has the data, but tha was a while ago. If not, you're going to just have to submit your case to WP:ANI if you think the behavioral evidence for sockpuppetry is sufficient for a block. Dmcdevit·t 03:19, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In any case, it's not in Hong Kong, so, tentatively, since that's all I have to go on, Red X Unrelated. Dmcdevit·t 03:21, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've submitted the case to WP:ANI, [1]. --Comaze 10:00, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HeadleyDown again

[edit]

The following are either strongly suspected, or behaviorally evidenced, to be HeadleyDown reincarnations. Two, or perhaps all three, are behaviorally certain. It looks like yet a few more RFCU's needed.....

Suspected new reincarnations:

Evidence for FFodor is style and behavior, evidence for Skypie is once-off random attack by unknown editor of a very non-controversial refactor of an edit, and evidence for Mindstore is behavioral (misinformation sufficient to bring AGF into question, related to healdeyDown's old favorite haunt, "NLP", for example this revert of Mindstore's edits).

information Note: Deferred to Mackensen, who has done the previous checks. I suggest contacting him directly, as he may not be checking the page regularly. Essjay (Talk) 11:51, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Checkuser me please Hello. Can you checkuser me please. I am in Hong Kong. I am not a skeptic. I am making bona fide editing. But FT2 is calling me a sockpuppet. Please clear up this. Thank you. Hylas Chung 08:48, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You need to read the talk page. You're thuinking of user:Woohookitty here, who wrote:
"No, you don't get what's happening here. We want critics. We just don't want more meatpuppets that have come here via the University of Hong Kong skeptics club" 10:43, 9 June 2006
You also need to re-read the definition of meatpuppet which is included within ]WP:SOCK. And most of all you need to look at the vandalism of the HK sock/meat ring, its blocklist, and the nature of your own edits, to see why Woohookitty and I and other editors fail to assume good faith. In the measntime the sock/meat ring is not allowed to edit that article, either now of for the foreseeable future. This is made clear on the talk page. If you are unhappy about it, may I suggest venting your frustration at HeadleyDown (if indeed he is a different person) who used HK socks and meats for over a year to vandalize that article mercilessly until blocking all suspected and possible socks and meats was the administrator-approved solution. FT2 (Talk | email) 09:41, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FT2. You are not an outside mediator. You give the wrong picture. Here is what Woohookitty said on my talkpage:

HongKong, that is a gross overstatement. Those folks who belong to the skeptics club of the University of Hong Kong are the ones getting blocked because they are meatpuppets of each other. Not every citizen of Hong Kong is being blocked. --Woohookitty(meow) 10:42, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Your edits/reversions are against Woohookitty's suggestions. My edits are bona fide. I will wait for the usercheck to verify. I am not doing any vandalism. I am making bona fide edits as a citizen from Hong Kong. Hylas Chung 01:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Skypie is an obvious attack puppet and doesn't need a check. Regarding the rest, if they act and edit like the meat ring you don't really need my say so. In any case,  Confirmed. Mackensen (talk) 02:16, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mackensen. Do you include me as a sockpuppet? If so - what evidence? Hylas Chung 02:48, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Mackensen. I see the first usercheck already. It says inconclusive. I already said I am from Hong Kong. Is that what it means? On my talkpage Woohookitty says I will be blocked only if I am a member of Hong Kong University skeptics. I am not. Thank you. Hylas Chung 03:53, 18 July 2006 (UTC) Sorry again. Woohookitty cleared this point up for me. I decided I will not edit the NLP article. I will wait for other bona fide editors to clear it up. Thank you Mackensen. HeadleyDown / JHartley

[edit]

After finally removing HeadleyDown from neuro-linguistic programming (for the time being) an interesting editor has arrived on another page I work heavily on. He uses a similar phrasing and approach to user:HeadleyDown and HeadleyDown's sock/meatpuppets. HeadleyDown uses a range of IPs around the world, and according to user:David Gerard, he is identifiable from conduct and behavior only. He ran around 20 socks, using them to distort the previous article to his own favored viewpoint, and left with a flurry of socks including attack_s0ck (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), messages from IPs in Hong Kong, the UK and the USA, and a promise to "be back".

As such it's hard to give too many specifics, but those who've edited on on articles he worked on during the last year have got to know his "style" very well. I'm concerned that out of the blue, and after 18 months of peace on zoophilia, JHartley (talk · contribs) arrives with similar style and agenda to user:HeadleyDown, on another controversial article I edit, days after the last suspected HeadleyDown socks/meats are removed from the first article.

There is at least one specific giveaway to HeadleyDown's puppets, and it shows up in JHartley's text too. If requested, I'll email it with DIFFs rather than post them openly, as there are a few really good signs, and I don't want to give them away oopenly.

A current list of HeadleyDown's known socks and meats is at WP:LTA#HeadleyDown and socks/meats and include:

Suspected unconfirmed socks or meats:

Clerk note: Request for clarification. This is mainly to find out whether JHartley is a reincarnation of HeadleyDown, correct?Thatcher131 20:39, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Basically that's it. There's already substantial content-based evidence to make it very likely he's the same editor reincarnated, but a block on content matching alone is less desirable, especially on a new article where there could be the chance of error. So its mainly to confirm if JHartley is a reincarnation of any previous HeadleyDown ID according to checkuser too. FT2 (Talk | email) 20:55, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inconclusive Per Arbcom, if he's acting and editing like a HeadleyDown sock go ahead and block him. Mackensen (talk) 00:40, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed per new IP evidence. Mackensen (talk) 16:37, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HeadleyDown

[edit]

We recently had User:HeadleyDown blocked along with a whole mess of sock and/or meatpuppets (User:HansAntel, User:AliceDeGrey, User:Camridge, User:Bookmain and others) from the University of Hong Kong skeptics club. Now we have User:Hylas Chung and User:HongKongMasterofSci, who is posting in the same types of places that Headley et all posted to. I'd like a checkuser on this user. He/she and the others blocked seem to think that we're targeting Hong Kong. No. We are targeting this club that has already produced 7 or 8 sock/meatpuppets and who I suspect is going to spur on more so they can influence the Neuro-linguistic Programming article. Hylas came onto the site about the time that Headley et all started being blocked. HongKongMasterofSci came onto the site just today, right after I blocked User:Helen Wu, who admitted to being in the skeptics group. Thanks. --Woohookitty(meow) 10:48, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HeadleyDown / BrightonRock101

[edit]

Checkuser request for new user:

Almost certainly another sock/meatpuppet related to the banned HeadleyDown sock/meat group mentioned at Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Neuro-linguistic_programming#Documentation_of_bans. Evidence -- following ban of the sock/meatpuppet ring there have been ongoing sock attempts to continue vandalizing the article, with the latest being a sock (MastaMan) blocked today, immediately followed by another sock (Attack s0ck), also blocked today, both occurring earlier today (June 12). This seems exactly like one more sockpuppet.

Second, for the record, can we have formal confirmation that the dormant accounts AMaulden (talk · contribs) and JaseC (talk · contribs) were also socks, and have them blocked? Evidence -- in the middle of Arbcom voting and discussion, AMaudlen wanders in out of the blue, acts like HeadleyDown, vanishes never to be seen again when called on it, to be replaced almost immediately by JaseC, who appears out of the blue, acts like HeadleyDown, then also vanishes when called on it, also never to be seen again. Both "new" users in the space of 24 hours when Arbcom voting was being discussed.

Clerk note: Everyone listed here except BrightonRock101 (talk · contribs), Oblio Yu HK (talk · contribs), AMaulden (talk · contribs) & JaseC (talk · contribs) have been indef-blocked for sockpuppet use/vandalism. --Srikeit (Talk | Email) 19:01, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FT2 (Talk) 21:36, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Red X Unrelated. BrightonRock101 is coming from the UK, MastaMan and Attack s0ck from Louisville, Kentucky. Oblio Yu HK (talk · contribs), AMaulden (talk · contribs) & JaseC (talk · contribs) are too old to check. Essjay (TalkConnect) 07:34, 14 June 2006 (UTC) </div[reply]

I am mentor on the Neuro-linguistic programming article. We've had many problems sockpuppets and meatpuppets. Camridge and HeadleyDown are on the "anti" side. There has been evidence presented in the past that shows that they never crossed paths, i.e. they are never posting at the same time. --Woohookitty(meow) 10:23, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible The two are coming from the same university, but a number of other legitimate contributors are as well. The edit pattern will have to be the deciding factor. Essjay (TalkConnect) 13:00, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
