This is a frustrating problem that has been going on for weeks. There are two SSP cases here and here dedicated to the problem, but, so far, no admin has come to help. Basically, there are multiple accounts, some registered and many unregistered IP addresses all beginning with 86.29 or 86.25. They have been making nonsensical, barely admissible edits to Talk:Iraq War. That's where the major problem has been. It's almost never something that leads to their complete blocking. They always make sure to stay just under the radar, but it disrupts the proceedings there nonetheless. Their trademark is the "British" (I'm assuming) way of insulting each other.[1] [2]

Seriously, unless they're a bunch of friends who log on and fling insults and garbage on the Iraq page, these users must be socks. Sorry if I sound really aggravated, but it's hard to hold a decent discussion with them around. It eventually got bad enough (with the unregistereds) that I had to get the talk page protected.[3] That calmed the silliness from the IP addresses, but the registered users continued. After I warned User:Freetown about editing my posts, User:Kerry Perry came in and responded.[4] How exactly did he know about that? Another time, I warned User:Atlanic wave2. for some vandalism and I got some insult flung at me by an unregistered user a few minutes later.[5] Where did he come from? Anyways, a couple of these users were apparently created at the same time. Short pat came in on July 26[6] and Kerry Perry apparently did too.[7] I doubt this is coincidence.

Also, look at Diesel Multiple Unit page history around 16 - 17 August.[8] Amazing coincidence that Pine oak and Freetown came to edit the same article? As for Commander EI Davis, he has a lot of 86.29 and 86.25 IP addresses on his talk page and was, amusingly, welcomed by Freetown when his account was created. So Freetown knew who this guy was and they both happened to edit the Iraq War together? As for Opal, he has some 86.29 IPs on his talk page as well as Bosnia's weird emoticon on his user page.[9] Seeing as Bosnia just created his account, it seems suspicious that he is adding the trademark trash to Iraq War[10]. For me, it seems a few too many coincidences to be just that. Please help me... VegitaU 04:37, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

information Note: I'm not seeing the need for a check. This doesn't appear to be a case of "evasion of community based blocks or bans". A vandalism block isn't really community based. --Deskana (banana) 11:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reply: Then I'm not sure what to do here. I came here after no one replied to two SSP reports and I used the F code to indicate that a few of the suspected accounts had been blocked, but the alleged sock puppeteer was continuing to edit with other accounts. A quick look at the user pages or history would immediately show a very suspicious and incriminating behavior, in my opinion, so I'm not quite clear where to go from here. -- VegitaU 19:47, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clerk note: The SSP requests were resolved - in the first case a rangeblock was suggested (but not implemented, it seems), and in the second, the accounts were given varying block lengths. I will inform the filer, and maybe he can figure out exactly what he is expecting. MSJapan 23:51, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Reply: Hilarious. There's finally some action taken and you call me out on it. Check the dates; the first report was filed on 3 August. It wasn't resolved until 22 August, a day after my last reply on this case. So, no, the cases weren't resolved…at least not by the time I made the above reply, nearly three weeks later. Don't be cynical and "try to find out what I was expecting" because I certainly wasn't expecting condescension. -- VegitaU 10:39, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been blocking all of these accounts for the past few days, finishing with all the accounts on this page tonight, as it is clear that they are connected in some way, and though some of them make constructive edits, they certainly do more harm than good. This is related to the case of User:Elspeth Monro and socks, which has been going on for a really long time. I fought those trolls a few months ago, but then lost track of them. If any non-admins see behavior like this, please let me know. A range block of those 86.2... IPs sounds like a good idea, but I don't know how to do it. Reply: Thanks for actually taking the time to review my case. At least someone can here can see the merit in this report. -- VegitaU 10:39, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
no Unnecessary if the accounts are blocked. --Deskana (apples) 13:47, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
