User:Lucky Mustard[edit]

Explanation of request: There's a name dispute at Lieutenant Governor (Canada) and this new user suddenly popped up and moved the page when there is still discussion going on on the talk page. Ardenn 16:38, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just signed up; I've no connection with the other user noted. And it appears that not everyone agrees with you. Lucky Mustard 18:35, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Having glanced at this, as I was recently involved in outing an editor who was using socks to evade editing restrictions, I'm quite stupefied by this request. First of all, this is a first for me. In addition, my interactions with the requestor (only recently) have been thoroughly unpleasant: as the above article's talk page exhibits, the requestor has made substandard edits and retrofitted articles without discussion or ignorant of prior ones to the contrary. He has also labelled my and other legitimate edits or corrections as vandalism ("rvv") when clearly they have not been. And I've not been the only one to question this editor's behaviour. Similarly, I and at least one other editor – and established, at that – dissent regarding the title of the above article.
Essentially, this request is absurd. I have no affiliation whatsoever with Lucky Mustard. I always edit with my username, I generally edit from my home computer, and my ISP is a local university. Given A.'s escalatory behaviour and the above, this request should be dismissed.
Relatedly, since a WP:RM has been logged regarding the above article, I will defer to a consensus regarding the article's title. Unequivocally, however, I will refrain from interacting with the requestor in perpetuity. E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 21:38, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Given the IP edit pattern and other evidence, I strongly suspect meatpuppetry. It is my conclusion that E Pluribus Anthony is prevaricating when he claims to have no connection with Lucky Mustard -- they've both edited from the same IP, a low-traffic residential/small business DSL which does not appear to be a proxy device. Kelly Martin (talk) 12:39, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Suspicion isn't proof. Apropos, I reject this conclusion and any insinuation of prevarication. E Pluribus Anthony | talk | 14:38, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Confirmed. I'm inclined, due to edit pattern, to believe it is a sockpuppet; meatpuppetry is possible, but not as likely. The only IP used by Lucky Mustard has also been used by E Pluribus Anthony, and no other contributor; he's used it multiple times, with it traveling back and forth between the two. Dynamic IPs are not assigned in this fashion; a user uses it once, and it is assigned to someone else; the chance of a high-speed dynamic IP being reassigned to the same two users in rapid succession (they use the same IP within hours of one another on more than one occasion) and then back to the other user within minutes/hours is so astronomical as to be absurd.

At the very least, E Pluribus Anthony knows exactly who Lucky Mustard is, and is using him to do his dirty work; his assertion that the two are unrelated and unknown to each other is totally, patently false. The more likely case is that the situation is exactly as it was described in the original report: a sockpuppet being used abusively. I'll be happy to make the IP information available to the Arbitration Committee or any other checkuser if they would like to review it. Essjay (TalkConnect) 06:44, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

E Pluribus Anthony[edit]

E Pluribus Anthony has already been identified as a sockpuppet of Lucky Mustard, below. I believe he/she is also a sockpuppet of A the 0th because:

  • A the 0th has been active only on two talk pages: Talk:Canada and Template talk:Regions of the world on which E Pluribus Anthony was also vociferous.
  • On Template:Regions of the World A the 0th has stormed in late on a debate and adopted exactly the same position as E Pluribus Anthony, who has mysteriously disappeared from it.
  • Their editing patterns are very similar - focus on topics related to Canada, Star Trek and Macedonia.
  • Similar use of language:

Confirmed. A the 0th is E Pluribus Anthony. Essjay (TalkConnect) 11:09, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
