Ragib[edit]

Final (31/0/0) ending 17:45 6 August 2005 (UTC) Ragib (talk · contribs) - Ragib has been with us for more than a year now. He has notched up a credible 3,357 edits (1,790 to the article namespace). he uses the talk pages to sort out issues, and his handles the situation camly. His edits are usually related to Bangladesh and Bengali language, but not limited to those topics. He also reverts a quite a handful of vandalism, and sees to it that all new images in his articles are correctly tagged. I would like to see him promoted to an admin, a post he deserves. =Nichalp «Talk»= 17:45, July 30, 2005 (UTC)

  12. Support I think admins who specialize in certain areas are important. I nominated a person for Philippine-related article so it's appropriate for one who does Bangladesh-related ones. --Chris 22:05, 31 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I would like to keep a sharp eye on Vandalism, and revert vandalized articles quickly. I like to participate in Votes for Deletion. I would also like to make articles NPOV, take part in NPOV discussions, and reach a consensus. I believe in neutrality, and maintaining Wikipedia:Wikiquette. In addition to that, I like to welcome new users and guide them in editing and other Wikipedia activities.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I have created many of the articles about Bangladesh and its culture (close to 150 articles). I recently finished creating articles and expanding most of them, for the 64 Districts of Bangladesh. I have started many of the articles on the Rivers of Bangladesh and other geographical features. I created many articles on Category:Bangladeshi people and expanded them to full article levels (for example: Munier Chowdhury). I like my work in creating articles on Bangladeshi culture, for example, my article on Bangla Calendar. I have created or contributed to many articles on Bangladesh Liberation War. I also have added Bangla language names and Bangla text to many biographical articles, place names, and the anthems related to Bangladesh and India. Outside Bangladesh related topics, I cleaned up the country article on Pakistan, and settled a dispute over the NPOV status. I also participated in History of India, Kashmir and Aurangzeb. My current project includes working on the article on Constitution of Bangladesh (work-in-progress) and also on Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh and Wikipedia:Wikiportal/Bangladesh. Finally, I have reverted many Vandalisms, Welcomed many newcomers to Wikipedia, and participated in long discussions to make articles NPOV (see Talk:Pakistan, Talk:Kashmir), Talk:Aurangzeb).
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I had a conflict regarding maintaining NPOV in the article Pakistan with SamTr014 (talk · contribs). My main point was to keep the article in conformance towards Wikipedia:Wikiproject Countries, keep the article short and have same structure as other country level pages and to move details of different issues to the particular articles. I believe I have dealt the issue with neutrality and worked on reaching a consensus in the talk page. Most of my opinions were supported by the other contributors and were later implemented into the article. I also did similar NPOV edits to India, Bangladesh, Kashmir in order to remove POV. I would like to deal calmly to any such disputes over content, initiate and continue discussion in the talk pages, and reach a consensus in conformance with NPOV. I also believe in Wikiquette and have maintained that in my correspondence with other contributors, even with Vandals. I want to maintain my neutrality and work without having any bias based on race, national origin, religion, gender or any other issues.
