Michael has been an editor since June of 2004 and contributed a great amount of information on Ukraine (and then some on Russia and former Soviet Union) and the World War II (particularly WWII arms). Apart from his editorial efforts, he has also done an enormous job of cleaning up and systematizing those articles.

His contributions to Ukrainian and WWII topics are especially valuable. Particularly, of Ukrainian topics, that are comparatively underrepresented in WP, many would be totally missing without Michael's contributions considering the facts that the number of editors working on those topics is still very limited. The debates around Ukrainian subjects are often unnecessary heated, and Michael has always been a voice of reason and collaboration during those debates, and that his understanding of and abidance to the NPOV principles are unquestionable. One of the nominators (Irpen) and Michael several times disagreed on particular edits but Michael is one of the best persons in WP to disagree with. He works to resolve the differences in good faith and never looses temper. We think he fully deserves to become an administrator, and will be a fine one at that. Actually we were surprised to find out he wasn't one yet.

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)

I would continue to revert graffiti and vandalism whenever I find it. I regularly check the requested moves page for questions that I can contribute to, and as an admin I'd be able to resolve requested moves when consensus is reached. I'd also like to selectively apply my knowledge of web technology to improve the style sheet (monobook.css), to give editors more powerful, easy-to-use tools, along the lines of Template:Prettytable.

2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

Major articles include Filip Konowal (my first contribution), Romanization of Ukrainian, Ukrainian alphabet, Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau. Collaborations include WikiProject Ukrainian subdivisions, and recently some work on Cossack-related articles. Technical work includes cleaning up tables, infoboxes and navboxes in some of the articles above, and in Cyrillic alphabet and the Cyrillic letter articles (e.g., Ґ), and Template:IPA to improve font display in Windows Explorer. 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

I've experienced everything from minor discussions over formatting or factual information, through a major propaganda campaign involving an energetic, angry user, right up to large polarized discussions on controversial issues. I've become much better at dealing with discussions and disputes. I'll continue to try to see things from the other users' point of view, but maintain a stand when I think it's warranted. I'm also learning when it's worth pursuing a dispute, and when to cool it and go elsewhere.
