Joseph Solis in Australia (talk · contribs) - Self-nomination. I’ve been active on Wikipedia since October 2007. Questions for the candidate
[edit]Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What admin work do you intend to take part in?
- A: If I get the adminship, I will protect the articles which vandalize by other users mostly anonymous.
I am also interested in vandal fighting.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: My best contributions to Wikipedia is massive editing to Mexican, Australian, Philippine and NBA-related articles in 2006-2007. I'm the one who creates the article about the election in Mexico in 1988 and 1994.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Yes, when I changed the font size of the references or footnotes because the footnotes or references can be in normal font size or small font size. I was warned by Gimmetrow. I will deal it by following the consensus of Wikipedia.

Oppose
[edit]- Oppose Sorry, but I don't think less than 3 edits at WP:AIV is sufficient for someone who wants to block vandals as an administrator. Gary King (talk) 07:09, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose Although I see this user very dedicated in the mainspace,
I don't see how this user would really need the administrative tools. Only 3 edits to WP:AIV which shows no need for the block tool, not many edits to WP:XFD and not many deleted edits which shows no use for the deletion tool. Not really very good answers either. Try participating more in WP:RFPP, WP:AIV, WP:XFD and subjects like those that show a need for the tools and come back a few more months.I do not trust this user enough. From what he did here, it generally shows he would loose his WP:COOL and possibly misuse the tools purposely. I'd say more experience is needed, more knowledge of our policies, and a few months of wait. Thanks, RyRy5 (talk) 07:24, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply] - Oppose, "I hate you" (June 8) is much too recent and surprising for an established editor. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 07:30, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - Per "Sandy", hate, admins just can't say that (at least not openly). Sorry. Its just too recent. Also I agree with "Gary King". Sorry again. — Realist2 (Who's Bad?) 07:37, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Why am I in quotes? :( Gary King (talk) 07:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry I'm too lazy to wikilink I do that all the time, even to "Sandy". — Realist2 (Who's Bad?) 07:42, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Why am I in quotes? :( Gary King (talk) 07:40, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose. Wow, you indeed have a lot of edits. Yet only 52 to the Wikipedia namespace? Sorry, but even though I'm a big supporter of mainspace editing, you don't have enough experience in admin-like areas. Useight (talk) 07:42, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- May edits reveal low quality, high count editing. Many edits to incorrectly link solo years (which shouldn't be linked, see MOS:UNLINKYEARS, sample) or to unnecessarily change font size by changing references to the reflist template even when the article has few references and doesn't need a smaller font. (sample). SandyGeorgia (Talk) 07:57, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose - Completely unbalanced in edits. It's been a while since I resorted to such a rationale, but with so many mainspace edits coupled to an average of less than 2 per article, and then double digits in the project space? No experience at all in admin areas. Also, the I hate you comment is just plain wrong. Wisdom89 (T / C) 07:59, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong oppose - Great way to interact with the community by saying you hate people, yeah. Just like this. Asenine 08:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose – the candidate's edits very frequently pop up on my watchlist, and unfortunately I have to say that, from my observations over a long period of time, the vast majority are not particularly constructive. I have even in the past rolledback many of the type of edits that SandyGeorgia mentions above, and from my recollection, the user isn't especially responsive to questions. The candidate hasn't demonstrated the experience necessary, in my opinion, for adminship – despite a long and very active contribution history.--cj | talk 09:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose per inactivity in admin-related areas, as well as Sandy's troubling diff. weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 10:23, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral
[edit]- Neutral with Moral Support - I dunno; you seem to be up to the task, but I'm not really that sure about you as an admin (even I have doubts about myself as one), but I'll support you for that... God Bless and good luck, Joe... Blake Gripling (talk) 08:47, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
