Nomination
[edit]Joe Gazz84 (talk · contribs) – I am a very intelligent and hard working user. I find relaxation in working behind the scenes, and doing more "mop" related actions than actually working on articles. I know my edits are a little less than a normal sysop candidate but, most of my edits are doing things that are somehow scaled down mop actions. A few of these actions include reviewing good articles, taking care of articles for creation, reverting LOTS of vandalism, and taking over a bot. That is just a few things I do that are related to the mop. I would only do things seriously and deal with things that I know well after reading policies and familiarizing myself with the policy. Please do not judge me based on the EDIT COUNT as the count does not matter, what matters is the quality of the edit itself. Please ask me any question or put me in any situation an admin would be in and ask me what I would do, that will prove I know what to do as an admin. Questions for the candidate
[edit]Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:
- 1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
- A: I intend to take part in deleting pages that clearly meet the Wikipedia standards for deletion. I mainly intend doing CSD deletions. I also would take part in AIV because of my experience with vandal fighting. I will also involve myself with admin help. I have been active on the IRC help channel and I feel I can help users with admin help templates but, as they are admin help, I cannot. I will involve myself with other tasks once I master those, as I like to only take on a few at a time and make sure I do them right.
- 2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
- A: My best contributions to Wikipedia are those where I vandal fight and deal with articles for creation. I feel I have done my vandal fighting with passion and with pride. I feel I have not let a non-suitable article go through but once when I first started. My best article contribution is with Augustus Nathaniel Lushington because I almost completely re-wrote it.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: I have been in an ANI with a user before. It started with me wanting to change the way we reported bugs for a bot. We argued over it, since I did not want to get into an edit war for changing the link more than 3 times, I took the issue to ANI. Getting the other opinions I soon came to realize that I was actually going to cause other users stress when trying to report bugs. I made up woth the user and left the system as is. In the future I will talk calmly with a user about an issue and then think long and hard about what I want to do. I will take into consideration the Pros/Cons of doing something and think about how it will affect others. I will then show my reasoning to the other user and see what they think. Then, seeing they bring up some points I am gladly to accept those and let the issue go. If they see my side I will thank them and will implement or resolve the issue.

Oppose
[edit]- I applaud your enthusiasm, but I don't think you have enough experience to become an administrator yet. You say you would like to take part in WP:AIV, but you barely have any reports to that venue yet, with just around two thousand edits and some made by automated tools. I recommend you try again in a few months with more experience. -download ׀ sign! 18:00, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- oppose I'm afraid I must agree with Download. You only have about three months of experience editing Wikipedia. Few if any users are ready to be an admin after so short a time. Keep up the good work and come back in a few more months. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:09, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose. WP:NOTNOW. Salvio Let's talk 'bout it! 18:32, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose You have very little content-building experience, and unfortunately what there is, your "best contribution" is not hugely impressive. Not everyone here focuses on "article building", but it is important that you have some experience if you are going to be able to delete articles, protect/unprotect articles and block users for edit-warring. Your vandal fighting is great, but that kind of work doesn't demonstrate a thorough understanding of policies and guidelines. I recommend getting a bit more experience with article writing, as well as behind the scenes. You say you want to delete articles under the CSD criteria, but do you have any experience tagging such articles? Looking at your contributions, I can only see one warning to a user about a CSD tag, back in July (your 7th live contribution!). Was that your only CSD tag or have you not been warning editors about them? Finally, just a small point, but your over-complicate talkpage instructions and system may be a bit off-putting to new users (is this really necessary?) Keep up the good work here, but I would definitely leave it at least several months before another RFA.--BelovedFreak 18:41, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral
[edit]- Please don't be put off. Some may have told you to come back later; I can only echo that. I had a quick look at your contributions and didn't see anything bad, but building up some more experience of different bits of wikipedia will win you a lot more "support" votes even if sometimes it appears that many voters have contradictory requirements. bobrayner (talk) 18:53, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- (edit conflict) Neutral - You're doing a great job, but I have to agree that you don't have enough experience to gain the mop at this time. You're welcome to try again in six months. ~NerdyScienceDude 19:09, 19 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
