InShaneee[edit]

final (44/0/2) ending 03:47 1 January 2006 (UTC)

InShaneee (talk · contribs) – InShaneee has been a member of Wikipedia since November 2004, and has since amassed over 4,200 edits. He has, in the 13 months since joining, had little to no conflicts on the encyclopedia, and has a great grasp of Wikipedia policies and guidelines. InShaneee is a member of the Counter Vandalism Unit, and one of Wikipedia's best vandal hunters and recent change patrollers. He has a solid relationship with a lot of Wikipedians, and having thought he was an administrator already, was quick to make this nomination. I think InShaneee could make an excellent administrator. Hedley 23:54, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:

It's a great honor to be nominated. Having said that, I gladly accept the nom. --InShaneee 23:21, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose

  • Please set/enable your email. Inform me once this is done. =Nichalp «Talk»= 05:17, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Might I ask why? I've provided several methods by which to contact me on my userpage already... --InShaneee 04:53, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
      • If you block someone, they should be able to reach you without having to rely on an IM program or a blog page. Xoloz 18:33, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
        • Point taken. I've now enabled my email account. --InShaneee 03:27, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per NichalP. I will retract vote once email enabled. Xoloz 18:33, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, admins must be contactable via the email form. silsor 02:32, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral

  1. Neutral. Good contributor so no opposition, but I think this RFC was the wrong way to go about resolving disputes. Sjakkalle (Check!) 10:22, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Neutral. I thought I'd support once email was enabled, but I must agree with Sjakkalle. Kappa is a noble contributor. Xoloz 16:57, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

  • Should this really be closing on the 31st as the time it was accepted/posted? I'm not familiar enough with this yet myself to change it unilaterally. (ESkog)(Talk) 09:06, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • Actually, time of posting to WP:RFA + 7 = January 1st. I've corrected it.
  • I don't really think the e-mail address is such a big deal, really. We all get enough spam as it is, and since InShaneee lists his AIM, it would be easy to contact him.--ViolinGirl 17:20, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • If you're American, yes. Other countries predominantly use MSN Messenger or other IM networks. Also, attaching your email address to your Wikipedia account doesn't cause any spam, because the email address is not available on the web. silsor 02:32, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
A. Chiefly, I'd like to block obvious vandals and rollback simple vandalism, as that's what I've been dealing with a lot lately since joining the WP:CVU (it's also what I enjoy the most here). The only other things I can see myself getting into would be taking care of some mechanical stuff like deleting unfree images that have passed there time, and closing deletions when that page gets swamped. --InShaneee 23:21, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. If I had to choose just one, I'd probably say The Fall of the Mutants, since it's the article I've contributed the largest body of information to (everything in the 'storyline' section). I had to do a lot of research involving about half a dozen website and a weekend buried in stacks of my old comics, and that comprehensive (but concise) summary is the end result. A close second is probably Kole, which has become a fairly high traffic page following her appearence in the Teen Titans animated series. --InShaneee 23:21, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. My largest conflict would have to have been with User:Angie Y. over a whole number of pages. She was a new user with mild asperger's syndrome who had a lot of trouble getting a grip on the concepts of original research and overall style, but was anxious to contribute to a wide body of pages. I ended up first imploring the Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal for help, which led to me assisting in her mentorship by User:TheoClarke. Should I face a similar problem again, I think I would take a similar route to resolve it (ie, once I realize I can't fix things myself, ask another user or users to take a look at the situation and see if they can offer any advice/action). --InShaneee 23:21, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
