Flcelloguy[edit]

Closed (41/2/4) 19:41 8 August 2005 (UTC)

Flcelloguy (talk · contribs) - This is probably the most newbie-friendly user I've seen on Wikipedia. This user could also make great use of admin tools in vandalism patrol. Y0u (Y0ur talk page) (Y0ur contributions) 19:42, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: Thank Y0u. I would be honored to be made an administrator by the Wikipedia community. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 19:44, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  32. Support per reasons above. -JCarriker 06:03, August 4, 2005 (UTC)
  33. Support 3 months is long enough (and a looong time to devote to a free project). Anyway, supposively you're not really supposed to make many edits to an article at once and use the preview button instead, but then I do the same thing to a somewhat lesser degree so of course I'm going to support :). --RN 06:26, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  34. Support. Friendly and civil, good quality edits. Nothing indicates any concern about abuse of admin powers. Jayjg (talk) 21:27, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  39. Support. If I recall correctly, I was nominated for adminship just over three months after I started editing Wikipedia, and I had only a thousand edits. — Knowledge Seeker 07:30, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

Oppose

  1. Oppose Three months is not enough. Dmn / Դմն 12:33, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Oppose. Per Dmn; three months is too short. siafu 23:56, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Neutral

  1. Neutral I would definately vote support, but the user hasn't been here long enough yet. Thunderbrand 04:36, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
  2. The user's great work notwithstanding, with less than three months here, just not enough experience for Adminship. I would support in a while from now, when he's been around for four or five months. Solid work. Redux 05:36, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Great contributor but I would still prefer a few more weeks of experience. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 00:12, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

  • Kate's tool result, 2,630 edits as of 19:44, August 1, 2005 (UTC). Y0u (Y0ur talk page) (Y0ur contributions) 19:44, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
  • Flcelloguy is also the current maintainer of Wikipedia:Mind Benders. Sango123 19:54, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
  • Flcelloguy has only been around since May 2005. -- BRIAN0918  23:14, 1 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Flcelloguy should consider using "North American" instead of "American" to refer to the USA, but that is just my opinion. :) --Sn0wflake 18:53, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • What about the Canadians and Mexicans? I think we need to invent the term "United Statesian" to refer to all of us people who apparently think we're citizens of the only country in the Americas. --Spangineer (háblame) 13:57, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
      • I could suggest the use of "from the USA", but I am sure people wouldn't listen, so North America is likely the next best thing. This way you end up excluding 2 countries instead of over a dozen. --Sn0wflake 20:40, 3 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • I definitely haven't been here long enough to actually toss in a vote, but I offer my support to Flcelloguy for his timely and friendly response to my question on the Helpdesk. Good luck! Soundstruck 18:43, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. Being trusted with the powers of an administrator would be a huge help for me. I currently do a lot of RC patrolling — I "specialize" in newpages patrol, where I tag a large quantity of pages with speedy deletes. Being able to delete them immediately would be useful and would also help reduce the occasional backlogs on speedy deletes. In addition, I sometimes do run into persistant- and annoying- vandals, and after various futile warnings, have reported them on WP:AIV, where they have been blocked. Also, having the "revert" buttom would also become handy when I do "regular" RC patrolling. Finally, I would be able to help out the WP:VfD backlog. Of course, I would use all the admin powers carefully- I will never violate the trust the community has given me.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I am proud of all my contributions, as all of them, no matter how minor they are, help contribute towards Wikipedia. However, there are several contributions I feel stand out: xiangqi, which I nominated and pushed to become a featured article, and competition, which I edited as part of the cleanup taskforce. Finally, I am also proud of my role in Wikipedia:Clueless newbies.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I respect everyone's opinion, and I value every bit of advice given to me. I am always open to opinions, and will always be polite. That being said, I have not had any major conflicts. The only "conflict" I can think of is with User:Giano regarding Boothy443's mass opposition vote; however, I feel that I acted politely, and both of us (I believe) carry no hard feelings. It was actually more of a constructive discussion rather than a dispute.
