Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Bancroftian

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FINAL (0/8/2) ending 15:35 27 August 2005 (UTC) Bancroftian (talk · contribs) - This is a self-nomination. I've been on wikipedia for a year now and have been doing many edits under this name for months. I think I definatley deserve to have the administrator's powers because, I will be able to do alot more on the site if I have them.

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:

  1. Sorry, but your user account has too few edits (310) on too little time (about a month). Course this is coming from the guy that...I'll spare you the story. If you stuck around for a few more months and rack up at least 750 edits (not that I'm saying this is an absolute number, it just sounds right ;)) then I'd vote for. — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 15:31, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Oppose due to lack of experience. Bancroftian only 310 total edits [1]. Also, the nomination was wrong in many aspects and had to be fixed by Illyanep (see comments). Finally, since this was a self-nomination, the questions should have been answered when this was first posted. Carbonite | Talk 15:33, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Irregularities in placing the RfA as described in comments show that the user could benefit from a bit more experience first. But by all means, do try after you get more edits under your belt! -- Norvy (talk) 15:37, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  4. Sorry, but I think you're too inexperienced to become an admin. Come back when you've made two or three thousand edits and shown that you are familiar with everything an administrator needs to be familiar with. — Trilobite (Talk) 15:50, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  5. Oppose. Too few edits, too little time...--May the Force be with you! Shreshth91($ |-| r 3 $ |-| t |-|) 16:14, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  6. Oppose If you had a few more, i'd vote neutral, but sorry bud, the intro tipped me into the oppose column. Come back in a thousand edits, and keep up the good attitude. Karmafist 17:06, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  7. Strongest Opposition Possible Has no idea what administrators do. Look at the answer to the first question. Admins are just fancy editors. They have other duties. Plus, you could use a few hundred more edits. Acetic Acid 04:14, August 21, 2005 (UTC)
  8. Bancroftian is on the right track, but needs more experience. --Merovingian (t) (c) 05:30, August 21, 2005 (UTC)
  9. Oppose ditto. --Chris S. 02:52, 21 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  10. Oppose Has not even accepted self-nomination. Wikipedianinthehouse 19:39, August 21, 2005 (UTC)

Neutral

  1. Oppose- as above Astrotrain 18:53, August 20, 2005 (UTC)
Would you prefer to be in the Oppose section? Carbonite | Talk 19:09, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  2. I would oppose for the reasons given above, but more oppose votes would be piling on at this point. Bancroftian, don't let this process scare you away. Keep working on building up good contributions, using edit summaries, and in a few months someone may nominate you for admin. Jonathunder 18:58, 2005 August 21 (UTC)

Comments

  • This nomination was added right to the requests for bureaucrat section (no subpage, and only the nomination, no header etc.). This looks more like a request for adminship. Also, the header said 18/0/0, but there were no votes, so I am changing it to 0/0/0. If I screwed something up then sorry! — Ilγαηερ (Tαlκ) 15:28, 20 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I'll be working on various articles excpessially those pertaining to music, literature and film.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I am please of my work creating articles for various Beatles songs. And the John O'Hart article which I made before I was registered here.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. No, I have not. I feel that inter wikipedian fighting hurts the wiki proscess and if I was a admin. I would work to stop it.
