Hours[edit]

Was the disaster film Hours based in any way on any person's true story (or maybe on a composite of several true stories, like Gravity or U-571)? I know it is based on real events, but what about the personal aspects of the story? 2601:646:9882:46E0:ED89:8418:7DB9:FEA0 (talk) 10:45, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean The Hours (film) or Hours (2013 film)? --Jayron32 10:48, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The one from 2013. 2601:646:9882:46E0:ED89:8418:7DB9:FEA0 (talk) 11:05, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This looks like one of those films that would have me laughing in disbelief. The plot is absurd. Shantavira|feed me 12:29, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Less absurd than Sharknado! ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 13:29, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Probably loosely based on the Memorial Medical Center during Hurricane Katrina. The authorities failed to organise an evacuation; there was no power and the lower floors were flooded by sewage-laden flood water. Patients died as they were shifted to safe areas or while awaiting evacuation five days later. There were about 40 deaths in all. Several of the medical staff were suspected and charged with euthanasia of patients, but the cases were dropped. A non-fiction book, Five Days at Memorial, was written by a journaist afterwards.
