It is not mentioned anywhere on redirected disambiguation page and no specific article exist on it. So, it should be deleted. It is kind of clickbait. Polarbear678 (talk) 23:11, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per WP:REDYES. There's probably an article to be written on this or, if not, content that could be included in a broad-concept article if this DAB is expanded into one. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe) 20:05, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ahmed Reza[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. As an unopposed deletion nomination. Jay 💬 07:09, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not attested as an alt-name at the target, meanwhile there's various partial-title matches in the encyclopedia, such as Ahmed Reza Rubel, Syed Ahmed Reza Hossain, and Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi. Given the lack of exact matches of this title, I think that deletion to allow for search results is appropriate. An article was created at this title briefly in 2019, but it meets WP:G11 and WP:A7 criteria and should not be considered an obstacle to deletion. signed, Rosguill talk 18:48, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe) 20:06, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is not helpful because there is no information on 2025 at the target. The only 'mention' is a circular link, which gives a false sense of hope that there may be an article on the subject. -- Tavix (talk) 18:00, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects prefixed with slashes[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Jay 💬 16:45, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The slashes are not part of the topic's name, but rather remnants of erroneous page moves. The first redirect was moved from the unusual title ?Gutenbergia rueppellii [1], and then finally moved to the correct name [2]. In the second case, the editor had likely forgotten to remove the "/" when moving the page from User:Teblick/Murder Is My Hobby. [3]. In either case these are not plausible errors, and the redirects can be deleted per WP:AFFINITY. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 14:53, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for my error. Eddie Blick (talk) 14:58, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Teblick: There is no need to apologize. Everyone makes mistakes! You can tag your redirect with {{Db-g7}} if you want. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 15:04, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Louis van Beethoven[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. A minority of editors held that a disambiguation page would be more appropriate, but there is broader agreement that a hatnote is sufficient to clarify the status quo. signed, Rosguill talk 16:36, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Seems only to refer to simple:Louis van Beethoven (2020 movie), not to the composer himself. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 02:11, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Used in French-language sources (example), seems like a reasonable redirect. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:26, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep – valid alternative variant per above. Why would they have a movie about the composer with the variant "Louis" if it wasn't used?? Aza24 (talk) 04:55, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per above. Thryduulf (talk) 13:02, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Nikkimaria --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:42, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Maybe it should be a DAB page like de:Louis van Beethoven. While we often prefer to have the broader meaning as the primary topic if the redirect is dubious it may be better to just have a DAB. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:10, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: Thoughts on dabifying?
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, CycloneYoris talk! 04:23, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • While Crouch, Swale's comments are true in the abstract, this redirect is not dubious. We do not have any content about the 2020 movie, so there is no question about the composer being the primary topic. If an article about the movie is written we can discuss which is primary, but it seems unlikely that it would be neither of them so a hatnote would be sufficient. Thryduulf (talk) 12:32, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Louis van Beethoven (film) has 2 incoming links namely Tobias Moretti and Beethoven in film and most Google results are for the film not the composer. So I'd suggest disambiguate as the "Beethoven in film" could be used as the blue link. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:08, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And yes per the above discussion there is clearly a consensus that it shouldn't be deleted but the relist to see about disambiguation makes sense. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:17, 20 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

  • Disambiguate as suggested. FYI, I just made the redlink blue by copy/pasting the article about the film exactly verbatim from simplewiki. Duckmather (talk) 04:40, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate per above. A two-item DAB isn't ideal but is probably better than a hatnote on Beethoven's article for a relatively obscure search term. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|she) 01:04, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. There is a WP:PTOPIC for long-term significance, especially given the film is a derivative work about Beethoven. If it's simply to remove a hatnote, I'd argue that a hatnote would not be needed because one would be able to navigate from Ludwig van BeethovenBeethoven in filmLouis van Beethoven (film). -- Tavix (talk) 15:51, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambig per Tamzin, or have a hatnote to the film. I don't find Tavix's navigation path easy. Otherwise we need to come up with a section on "Beethoven in film" first that can be seen in the TOC, and the section can contain this film name. Jay 💬 13:14, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine with a hatnote. It's certainly a much better option than displacing a redirect solely to accommodate a derivative use. -- Tavix (talk) 14:26, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hatnotes are fine and to be encouraged. I've never understood the opposition to them that some people have - if there is a different encyclopaedia article that someone could be looking for at a given title but which is not the primary topic they should always be able to get there either direct from a hatnote or via a hatnote to a disambiguation page. I still don't see need for or benefit of a disambiguation page here. Thryduulf (talk) 16:11, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We need a hatnote if the redirect stays in place as having to Beethoven in film an then this film would be too difficult. That's why if this redirect is unlikely it may be better just to have a DAB here. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:10, 17 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

It is not helpful to redirect to a target that has no mention of the subject in question. These redirects do imply that these songs charted, so they may be notable per WP:NSONG. Deletion to encourage article creation may be desirable. -- Tavix (talk) 21:24, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was No consensus/retarget to wikt:spondylous as a soft redirect. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 03:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in the target article, making the connection between the redirect and the target article unclear. However, there are 3 instances of words that begin with the prefix "spondy-" in the article, but they do not make it very clear why this specific redirect would target the current target. Spondylus exists, but it seems so unrelated to the current target that retargeting there as a misspelling seems incorrect/unhelpful. Steel1943 (talk) 19:42, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Soft redirect. wikt:spondylous defines it as Relating to spondyles; vertebral; wikt:spondyle reads (archaic, anatomy) A joint of the backbone; a vertebra.. Vertebral currently exists as a redirect to the same target, but is being discussed at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2023 December 29#Vertebral. I think soft redirecting to Wiktionary is my first choice, but my close second preference is to mark it as a {{R avoided double redirect}} of vertebral and point it wherever the consensus target of that redirect is (my preference for that is Vertebra).
