Alex Shieh[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Procedural close as a problematic and misleading nomination. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 20:55, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect should be deleted because Alex Shieh currently bears no relation to the article and makes no sense. In a previous version of the article, Shieh was mentioned briefly in a single line as the founder of a club, but consensus has removed that piece from the page. Furthermore, the creator User:Stopasianhate repeatedly edits to Phillips Academy#The Phillips Academy Poll to put Shieh's name back onto the article, suggesting this redirect may also be a form of self-promotion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1000:b108:8df7:8c34:d691:6968:1890 (talk) 04:19, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Claimed user's contibs do not show any edits to the Phillips Academy article. Jalen Folf (talk) 05:07, 9 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment – IP's summary appears to be very misleading. This part of the article is currently getting reworked, and has been the subject of an edit war in the past few weeks. There does not seem to be consensus to keep or delete that part of the article, and Stopasianhate has made only one edit on the page so far, seemingly to revert the state of it prior to the recent disruptive edits though it did result in only the sentence mentioning Alex Shieh as the founder of a research institute being brought back.
It's perhaps too early to say whether Alex Shieh will be mentioned in the final version of the article or not. I would say delete until it's clear Alex Shieh's name will stay in the article, but the reverse of keeping until it's clear his name will not be kept on the article is reasonable as well. • Delete- Alex Shieh's name does not currently appear in the article. I don't remember what the "Alex Shieh Institite" was, but I think that was a joke by one of his classmates and not a real thing. We can always make the redirect again if we need to. • Procedural close as a problematic RfD where the nomination appears to be misleading, and Round and rounder who removed mention from the article, and who is a participant, has been blocked as a sock. Jay 💬 07:02, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Trad. (non-admin closure) {{ping|ClydeFranklin}} (t/c) 19:47, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Was originally created back in 2016 as a redirect to Ivy League (clothes), which no longer contains a mention of this term. In 2022, it was retargeted to a new section of Neo-Nazism. However, that section's voracity was challenged at Talk:Neo-Nazism/Archive 5#Trads, and was removed with this edit, so no longer is mentioned there either. This isn't obviously the primary topic; Coca-Cola Europacific Partners seems to be also something that's plausibly a reasonable target for this acronym, but a dab page might also be warranted. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 06:08, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. Jay 💬 06:38, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is no such list at the target or anywhere else, so delete. This was briefly an unsourced article (well, a source was added [2] but this was to a category of a wiki which doesn't appear to have any mention of pubs [3]) which was quickly BLARed to the target which at that time did have a list ([4]), since removed. I don't think it is necessary to restore the article as it was unreferenced but if others feel that it is I am not opposed to it. A7V2 (talk) 05:32, 16 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of this station anywhere at the current target, nor was there when this redirect was created in 2014. I think best to delete. There is sort of mention at Broken Hill railway line, but I think this is an unsuitable target since no other station name redirects there (with many being redlinks) and since the only mention is in the line map which is collapsed by default. Not mentioned in section or page, don't see what transwiki has to do with this section. Rusalkii (talk) 21:48, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'd be open to any fate for this page, but my stance is that this concept extends beyond mediawiki (and therefore solely-internal matters) and is encyclopedic; whether ww currently have content about it is orthogonal to the possibility of pointing an inquirer to at least the context within which the term is usable. • Delete. Seems to be an obscure piece of Wikimedia lingo without any good crosswiki target. No objection to retargeting if an encyclopedic mention is added. Clyde!Franklin! 21:57, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, the current target doesn't help, and the 2021 RfD had it deleted. However, do not leave it as a redlink this time, or it'll just be re-created. The redirect is used in several pages including in mainspace talk page debates and instructions (all outdated). I started off trying to pipe them to the Help page, but at one talk I saw that it was used in the context of the (defunct) WikiProject Transwiki, so was not sure where to pipe them all to. I also see another potential WP target Help:Interwiki linking which is already redirected from mainspace redirects Interwikimedia and Interwikimedia links. Interwiki link redirects to MediaWiki#Interwiki links though. Jay 💬 05:53, 4 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to wikt:transwiki. I imagine someone would be looking this up wondering what this means—the Wiktionary page provides the answer. -- Tavix (talk) 17:04, 11 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
