September 23[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on September 23, 2022.

List of algonquin terms[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to List of English words from indigenous languages of the Americas#Words from Algonquian languages. signed, Rosguill talk 18:28, 4 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No actual list of this sort at the target. List of English words from indigenous languages of the Americas#Words from Algonquian languages might be a potential target, but it only lists loanwords, and other Category:Lists of English words of foreign origin do not appear to have redirects from just "List of {language} (words|terms)" either. 1234qwer1234qwer4 17:58, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Several potential targets are being discussed…

Leurozancla[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Macrobathra. plicit 14:27, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This page should not direct here. Another redirect with the full scientific name Leurozancla humilis currently targets Macrobathra humilis. So this is probably a re-naming of a moth species? Either way, this does not need to be targeting the cryptid. TNstingray (talk) 16:31, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Minimal participation and no consensus on what to do. More discussion seems warranted.

Barden booger[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Skunk ape. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 05:50, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Originally targeted the Bigfoot page, but it was misspelled. I already created the page with the proper spelling, so does this one need to be deleted? TNstingray (talk) 12:20, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Seems WP:CHEAP to me, considering that "Bardin" and "Barden" are just a vowel change in difference. The capitalization change in "booger" is rather CHEAP as well. Steel1943 (talk) 23:41, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Retarget to Skunk ape per below. Steel1943 (talk) 19:12, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Not mentioned in the article or anywhere else. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 11:59, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to skunk ape where "Bardin Booger" is actually mentioned. I have WP:BOLDly retargeted Bardin Booger to that page (it formerly pointed at Bigfoot). 61.239.39.90 (talk) 02:06, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to skunk ape per IP61. Jay 💬 23:37, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Turns out this nomination was all types of malformed. For one, the nominator moved Bardin booger to Barden Booger, which was a redirect so instead of moving the redirect, a new redirect should have been created. Secondly, after the nominator moved the redirect, they immediately tagged its leftover redirect with the RFD tag instead of resolving the double redirect first; if the nominator would have resolved the double redirect first, the nominated redirect would have been targeting Bigfoot instead of Bardin Booger (which I have since resolved and fixed in this nomination.) In a nutshell, I think TNstingray needs a WP:TROUT for both moving the redirect instead of creating a new one, and not fixing the double redirect prior to nominating this redirect. (I have also swapped the edit histories so the correct histories reflect the correct page, minus the RFD tagging.) Steel1943 (talk) 19:12, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, I am really sorry for screwing the nomination up. Thank you for cleaning up my mess. I attempted to create a new redirect with the proper spelling, but clearly I did not go about that in the correct way. I'm rather embarrassed, actually. I definitely need to be more mindful when it comes to nominating redirects and articles for deletion/discussion and review the applicable procedural pages, some of which have already been recommended to me in the past. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, and once again, I apologize for the inconvenience. TNstingray (talk) 20:55, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The masked being[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. Jay 💬 23:42, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Based on my knowledge and cursory research, this is not an alternate name for Bigfoot, and it is not mentioned at the target page. Delete. TNstingray (talk) 12:15, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

https://www.oocities.org/shabak_waxtju/mesingw.html shows a relation to the Misinkhalikan redirect created by the same user. Neither are mentioned at the target, though. 1234qwer1234qwer4 18:09, 16 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

  • Delete it looks like "the masked being" is sometimes used for a Lenape figure with similar characteristics to Bigfoot, e.g. [1] [2]. But that usage isn't discussed in the Bigfoot article and there are plenty of other usages as well, so it isn't a very useful redirect. Hut 8.5 12:27, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Paris Exemption[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. plicit 23:47, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This targets to a now (and seemingly long) deleted section, with no other suitable target on wikipedia. The concept refers to eating vegetarian food on vacation when vegan food is not available, but I just can't seem to find anywhere that is covered on wikipedia. It seems to have been coined by Peter Singer, but is similarly unmentioned on his page. TartarTorte 18:31, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. "Paris exemption" isn't mentioned anywhere in Enwiki. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 12:01, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete the target article did formerly mention this (see [3]) but it seems to have been removed in 2015 or 2016. It would be reasonable to add a mention to Peter Singer#Animal liberation and speciesism, which does discuss flexible attitudes to veganism, but it doesn't mention the term specifically. Not mentioned in target article. In addition, the creator of this content (created in 2008) seems to be somewhat WP:SPA-ish for promotional use only. Steel1943 (talk) 18:12, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete. It was definitely a campaign back then -- see this contemporary blog -- but it seems to have sunk without a trace. If we keep it, just retarget to the top, instead of the Advertising section. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:34, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at target. 1234qwer1234qwer4 17:34, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Tentative keep in some capacity, reluctant delete if that doesn't work. This phrase is a well-known meme from the movie, but despite the decent number of pageviews it's getting, it isn't even mentioned at q:Bee Movie. Could those views be from old and/or external links of some sort? Regards, SONIC678 22:02, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Not mentioned here or anywhere else. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 12:05, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Shhhnotsoloud. Not even mentioned at Wikiquote. (wikiquote:James Dean (film) mentions "You like jazz?", but I doubt that's what people are looking for.) 61.239.39.90 (talk) 02:11, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was soft redirect to Q:Bee Movie. Another SNOW close. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 20:15, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target article. Lord Belbury (talk) 16:09, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Soft redirect to q:Bee Movie, where this sentence (the first and most famous of the movie) is mentioned. Alternatively, add a mention to the article and keep. Thryduulf (talk) 16:56, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Soft redirect to q:Bee Movie: Notable enough quote from the movie for a soft redirect to be warranted. The soft redirect in either clicking through to see more quotes from Bee Movie or just by seeing the quote is from Bee Movie should provide readers with pretty much anything they'd want from the page. TartarTorte 17:28, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Soft redirect to q:Bee Movie, per Thryduulf and TartarTorte SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 17:49, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Soft redirect to q:Bee Movie per everyone above. This quote is notable enough to be included on that page, plus it's helping a good number of people. I don't see the point in inconveniencing those who're looking at it right now on a just-over-daily basis. Regards, SONIC678 22:05, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Soft redirect to q:Bee Movie per TartarTorte and Sonic678. Painting17 (talk) 02:37, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Soft redirect to Wikiquote as above. This is a very famous quote that appears in at least two books ([4], [5]) and two articles in Forbes ([6]) and Business Insider ([7]) respectively, in addition to its almost limitless use in meme culture. A fair number of users search for this quote as evidenced by the pageviews linked above, and Wikiquote gives context on its origins. Glades12 (talk) 11:38, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Milked for laughs[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. Jay 💬 17:20, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at the target, delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 15:45, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Definitely delete. It may be a phrase used by Kiwi Farms, but it isn't exclusive or notable enough to be attributed it them alone. JungleEntity (talk) 16:04, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. I can see the logic to it but it isn't specific to KF and, more to the point, no pages in the article space are even using that redirect. DanielRigal (talk) 16:07, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Even if Kiwi Farms mentions 'lolcows' and 'milked for laughs', the phrase is too commonly used outside of this context for the redirect to be useful. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:13, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. This is a likely search term given the commonness of the phrase but I've been unable to find any suitable target here or at Wiktionary. e.g. Played for laughs, Play for laughs, Play it straight and other formulations I could think of are all redlinks. Thryduulf (talk) 17:00, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment Wiktionary covers the phrase "milk for laughs" at wikt:milk#Verb, sense #4. However I don't think a soft redirect is necessary here. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 00:24, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, not kf specific and no other suitable target available, as above. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 18:37, 23 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Not mentioned here or anywhere else. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 12:06, 24 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • 'Delete Ah yes, let's redirect everyone who looks up a random phrase to the hate website that likes to use it the most. I mean, I get where the connection comes from, but it isn't even remotely E enough to even have in the article, so I don't understand how it meets any of the qualifications for a redirect. This probably qualifies for a snowball closure. Licks-rocks (talk) 21:12, 25 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
