This is supposedly an alternative title for the film in question. But there's no evidence (at least not at target article) that this title was actually used. CycloneYoris talk! 23:53, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

- Thermochromic Paint → Thermochromism (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
It seems that Thermochromic ink refers to paint, so suggest retargeting there. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 20:38, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see where ink refers to paint, and it would be pretty misleading for ink to be considered paint given ink and paint are very different things. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 09:24, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- Redirect to Thermochromism#Leuco_dyes, where there is a paragraph on these paints. Agreed, ink is not paint, and this target talks about paints explicitly. --

[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was retarget to Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule. Liz Read! Talk! 22:49, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
- Steve Brule → Steve Brûlé (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
- Dr. Steve Brule → List of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! sketches and characters#Featured sketches (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
I typed this in expecting to be taken to Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule, and was surprised to be taken here instead. According to WikiNav, 72 out of 177 people to read this article in November clicked the link in the hatnote, while there wasn't a single link in the body of the article that more than 10 people clicked. Considering that only 66 people viewed this redirect that month, that strongly suggests that ~100% of people visiting Steve Brule were looking for the show about him. Furthermore, even if we didn't have this pageview information, this is a WP:SMALLDETAILS situation. Thus retarget with hatnote to current target. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 12:47, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I have added Dr. Steve Brule here too, which targets a defunct section at the characters list from the original show. Mdewman6 (talk) 17:54, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Retarget that as well. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 18:54, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Note that Talk:Steve Brule is a redirect to Talk:Steve Brûlé, which should be dealt with if the main page is retargeted. I have also added {{R from move}} to Steve Brule. Mdewman6 (talk) 18:00, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- The talkpages of redirects that have been subject to an RfD are usually tagged with {{old rfd}}, overwriting any redirect they had on them, regardless of outcome. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 18:54, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

- Retarget Dr. Steve Brule to Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule. I think that a disambiguation might serve nicely for Steve Brule nicely. It seems that Steve Brûlé gets more pageviews than Dr. Steve Brule according to ToolForge, but not by a wide-enough margin to not disambiguate. I am not sure if I agree with Tamzin's analysis of most of the people on Brûlé's page wanting to visit the page for Dr. Brule. Here is a draft disambiguation page Draft:Steve Brule. - Retarget to Albanian Americans#Demographics which has a paragraph of information about Albanians in New York City. Thryduulf (talk) 14:45, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- A sentence, not a paragraph. And the paragraph where that info is contained in seems to be very closely paraphrased from its source to boot. But no problem with this retargeting as such. Fram (talk) 15:01, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Delete: promotional / SEO for YouTube channel Wire723 (talk) 11:20, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Comment: this designation is also used in one of the sources. Veverve (talk) 14:17, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Delete on principle. We shouldn't use organisations' bylines as redirects. They are generally pompous and lack NPOV as well as being promotional. That is not what Wikipedia is about. If we allow it we will end up with things like Fueling the world safely and responsibly redirecting to Esso or Reimagining energy redirecting to BP. SpinningSpark 19:10, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- If there is sourced discussion about a particularly notable byline or slogan then a redirect can be appropriate, e.g. The Free Encyclopedia that Anyone Can Edit, The most magical place on Earth, Vorsprung durch Technik. See Category:Redirects from slogans. Thryduulf (talk) 19:49, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Mindlessly repeating it in a headline does not count as "sourced discussion". SpinningSpark 19:57, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Indeed, I was replying to your point about these not being appropriate for Wikipedia as a class. I explicitly did not mention this specific example. Thryduulf (talk) 21:13, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

See Category:Redirects from slogans. Thryduulf (talk) 19:49, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- I agree with Thryduulf regarding redirects from slogans, and think both examples that SpinningSpark gave would be valid redirects... But that somewhat misses the point that this is not a slogan! It is the title of a stream that has been running on this channel for almost two years. A fairly well-known stream, well-enough known that I knew its name but not the channel's name. That makes this a plausible search term and somewhere between an {{r from product name}} and {{r from work}}. Keep -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Comment by OP: in that case I suggest a move to Lofi hip hop radio (i.e. remove the tagline). Wire723 (talk) 12:27, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- I think that would be a reasonable secondary redirect, but this is the phrase the stream is best known by, and is unambiguous. It should be kept regardless of whether Lofi hip hop radio is created. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:15, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

No mention of Afghanistan at the target or Romani people at Demographics of Afghanistan, delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 19:27, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Delete as the article does not indicate any notable presence of Romani People in Afghanistan and this seems like a WP:REDYES scenario if there actually are Romani people in Afghanistan as seemingly every other Romani People in X is an article and not a redirect (example: Romani people in France, Romani people in Greece, Romani people in Hungary, etc.) TartarTorte 00:53, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

- The Cathedral (neoreaction) → Regimes of truth (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Not mentioned at the target, Google Scholar searches for the terms in the redirect do not suggest that these terms are directly equivalent, with the search term being a buzzword within the movement of Dark Enlightenment (but not discussed at that article) that perhaps draws on Foucaultian concepts of regimes of truth, but putting in a redirect at this time seems a bridge too far. I would suggest deletion unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 19:11, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

Can this redirect be deleted. Pachelbel's Canon is written in D Major, not D Minor. Kind regards, JJK2000 (talk) 08:56, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Keep as a harmless redirect. There is no Pachelbel's Canon in D Minor and as Pachelbel has been dead for a bit I don't think there is going to be so I think that keeping it is CHEAP. It's not the world's most improbably search for someone to mishear that it is in minor versus major. TartarTorte 00:55, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

large parts of the world follow the opposite convention: Thai Chinese, Burmese Indians, British Moroccans, Iranian Kazakhs, etc. And then in some parts of the world neither convention is used in actual sources, but editors make up some WP:OR terminology following whichever convention they're familiar with. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 06:22, 19 January 2022 (UTC)- That's fair. . Jay (talk) 04:47, 7 January 2022 (UTC)- @Jay: I think you meant this as a reply to someone else? To clarify my comment, I mean that I added Cho Junyoung to this nomination, since they should both be deleted or point to the same target. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 00:57, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant you added Cho Jun-Young to SM Entertainment artists. I did not realize that it was IP 103.111.143.33 who added it, and which was reverted. Jay (talk) 05:02, 10 January 2022 (UTC)

- Is he the same as Young Sky or Sky of the One Way (South Korean band)? See this Wikipedia mirror. Jay (talk) 04:47, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- No @Jay:. The one you were referring to was born in 1988. The one currently discussed was born on 2002. However the one born on 2002 is notable rather than the 1988 and he doesn't use Cho Junyoung as he uses his stage name. ReVeluv02 (talk) 14:41, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- If you are adding a mention to SM Entertainment artists of the artist being discussed, then we can retarget there. Jay (talk) 16:38, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

- Comment if a mention is added to "One Way" for (Young) Sky; and "SM Entertainment artists" for the other one, then a disambiguation page can be created for the guy born in 1988 and the guy born in 2002 Can @ReVeluv02 and Jay: add the mentions to the two articles? -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 22:26, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was retarget to Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. No one seemed terribly confident about this solution, but after two relists it's the only suggestion with any support. signed, Rosguill talk 21:57, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
- Orthodox Church of Byzantium → Eastern Orthodox Church (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
I am not sure what this redirect is supposed to designate. Does anyone have any idea? In any case, this expression seems unlikely to be searched. Veverve (talk) 02:14, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- Weak retarget to Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, which seems to be the best fit, but I'm not sure. — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs) 03:06, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- Retarget per Guye -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 04:03, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Mr. Guye:Technically, the Patriarchates of Alexandria, Jerusalem and Antioch were also part of the E. Orthodox church of Byzantium, as they were within the empire's borders for centuries. Veverve (talk) 13:03, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was no consensus. WP:TRAINWRECK. I appreciate the work that was done here to make the ressults more parseable, but with two distinct complex suggestions and no overriding support for any outcome at this time, I think this discussion is too broad to come to a consensus. signed, Rosguill talk 21:45, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

A group of soft redirects from mathematical symbols. As they are not commonly wikified words or repeatedly recreated, a soft redirect is unneeded per WP:SSRT and so they should be deleted. Worth noting that many of the Wiktionary entries do not contain a definition (example) making the soft redirect useless. Note that given the number of redirects and how little they are used I have not tagged the pages, but will do so if requested. BilledMammal (talk) 00:40, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Do not delete. Never delete unicode characters. Every symbol at Mathematical Operators (Unicode block) contains a link to its redirect target. Deleting any symbol will cause a red link at the table. If there is a plausible search term, then it could be redirected there. I am yet to see other non-existent unicode charactes. Neel.arunabh (talk) 00:54, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- If the symbol is notable, a red link helps editors identify articles that needs to be created. If the symbol is not notable, it should not be linked as is already the case with some symbols on that table such as ⋙. BilledMammal (talk) 01:01, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Delete all: "Because it will leave a red link on a certain table" is not an acceptable rationale to keep a bad redirect. The answer is to remove the links. Ravenswing 13:42, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I am yet to come across any other non-existent unicode character in Wikipedia. Nearly, every unicode character does have some redirect. Neel.arunabh (talk) 14:23, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Delete all, at a spotcheck these entries are definitions that provide no info. CMD (talk) 15:14, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Regarding keeping the ones with definitions, ⊷ was liested as an example below, and it's Wikitictionary entry is "Symbol ⊷ (mathematics) Image of". I'm not sure how that helps a Wikipedia reader. I am happy to adjust my !vote to support Pppery's retargets to article sections, but I'm still not seeing the Wikitictionary links as useful. CMD (talk) 10:05, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- I sympathize that many RfD participants would oppose deleting unicode characters. But, let us wait till we get a consensus. Neel.arunabh (talk) 16:29, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- I've attempted to fix the nom so that all the correct targets are listed. My regex-replace assumed that all redirects are pointing to that exact term on Wiktionary; if that's incorrect, I welcome anyone to fix the relevant entries. I've also tagged all of the redirects using JWB. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:45, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- So, acknowledging that there was an attempt to canvass me here, but noting that I didn't see that due to a failed ping and only became aware of it after my above comment, and because I think there's an important precedent to be set(?) on redirects to Wiktionary where the Wiktionary entry has no definition: Keep ⋷, ⋶, ⋇, ⊷, ⊶, ⊮, ⊬, ⊝, ⊺, ⊏, ≬, ≂, and ∔ because their Wiktionary entries have definitions. Delete the rest without prejudice against recreation if definitions are added to the corresponding Wiktionary entries. For the sake of the closer, I've replaced the bullets in this nomination with #s, so: That's redirects 9, 10, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 30, 32, 37, 39, 40, and 41. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 22:45, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Retarget ⋷ and ⋶ to Element (mathematics)#Notation and terminology. Retarget ≂ to Approximation#Typography. Keep the remaining ones with definitions, and Delete the ones without definitions. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:34, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- 9, 10, and 40, for benefit of the closer. I would support retargeting those, but I would oppose keeping the ones with Wiktionary definitions, as they don't seem to meet our requirements for crosswiki redirects. BilledMammal (talk) 00:37, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
- The "requirements" for soft redirects you refer to are not requirements, they are guidelines that indicate some of the situations when soft redirects are typically useful or not useful. The language there is far firmer than it should be based on the consensus of RfD discussions over the years. Thryduulf (talk) 15:32, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

- Do not delete. I haven't got time to look at each one in detail at the moment, but every single unicode character oustide the private use area is a likely search term and should be a blue link. Soft redirects to Wiktionary entries that contain infomration about the character are fine, redirects to local pages with information about the character (even if it is just a list) are usually better.
