Template:Self-reference[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Template:Self reference. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:58, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This was moved in February, but I think this is quite ambiguous, as {{Self reference}} exists and is spelt very similarly. I think that is a better target because of the singular number, although I understand that the current target has been under this title since 2006. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 21:22, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. The name is indeed mentioned in the target article, but there is consensus in this discussion to delete the redirect in order to encourage the creation of a full article for this likely-notable subject. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:23, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target. Onel5969 TT me 18:02, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, not sure if it's a recent change, but this name is currently mentioned at the target as a 2005 environment ambassador. signed, Rosguill talk 19:39, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep Included in target since 2014[1] and also present at the time of nomination.[2] However, there is no requirement for XfD claims to be correct so my claim may not be correct. Thincat (talk) 16:57, 20 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - per WP:RfD#d10. Yes the name is definitely mentioned at the target and has been for some time, but this mention is really just a circular link without providing any real information other than when she won this competition. A7V2 (talk) 00:54, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - The individual is indeed mentioned at the target per those above; thus, it is a reasonable redirect. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 20:49, 21 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was soft redirect to wikt:hood#Etymology 3. Ixfd64 (talk) 18:10, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is not very useful and should be deleted. Or at least retargeted to Hood (disambiguation). Un assiolo (talk) 19:18, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Redirect >>>>Neighbourhood, as this a 'hood slang. Djflem (talk) 19:22, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • The alternate capitalisation In the Hood currently targets Restless (Trae album) as the name of a song, maybe this one should point to the same place? 86.23.109.101 (talk) 20:34, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to the disambiguation page; while "the hood" literally means "neighbourhood" in hood slang, it most often refers to African-American ghettos, i.e. the neighbourhoods of the original users of the slang. So clarifying on "Hood (disambiguation)" that this is a term originating in AAVE which is used to mean "African-American ghetto" more specifically, or "neighbourhoods" more generally may be appropriate. --Bangalamania (talk) 22:07, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. This is not standard practice. Ixfd64 (talk) 17:17, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless and confusing. Only exists to make a talk page archive go back to the article. --Cortex128 17:51, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. I assume this is supposed to be a talk page archive, but since it's missing the talk prefix its actually in article space. The actual archive is at Talk:Emu War/Archive 1. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 18:00, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Looks like someone found it necessary to create an article page to go along with the talk archive. However, this serves no purpose, would have no real use, and is kinda pointless since subpages have been disabled in the article namespace. Hog Farm Talk 05:25, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, this is to aid people on Talk:Emu War/Archive 1 pressing the Article tab expecting to go to Emu War. It seems a niche usage, and it is, but it's happened to me and other users many times before. J947messageedits 22:02, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per J947, that is the reason why I created the redirect in the first place. Mattx8y (talk) 17:00, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Wikipedia:Subpages#Wikipedia namespaces that do not have sub-pages, which discourages mainspace subpages. Talk archives don't need associated article pages. - Eureka Lott 04:23, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. If we want a link like this, I think it would have to be hardcoded into the page instead of using a redirect. It's one of those "all or nothing" things because there is no expectation of having a link like this in place for any given page. -- Tavix (talk) 18:27, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Innapropriate non-english redirect per WP:FORRED, nothing particularly French about the concept of a sphere. I'm fairly sure this is also pointing to the wrong place and is supposed to be targeting Geosphere. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 15:46, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This seems to be an incorrect formula redirect, I'm not aware of this expression having any connection to cylinders. The volume of a sphere is 4/3 Pi R Cubed, but since this is missing the 4/3 I don't think it should redirect there. The equation for the volume of a Cylinder is Pi R Squared h. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 15:14, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is a symbol used in engineering drawings to mark up a cylindricity tolerance, i.e. how far away from being truly cylindrical a component can be. There's no mention of this symbol in the target article. The best target I was able to find is Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing#Symbols where it is defined. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 15:02, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is an extremely ambiguous redirect in my opinion, and I not sure that World of Warcraft is the primary usage of this phrase. I propose retargeting this to the DAB page at Demon hunter and possibly making disambiguated redirect (like "Deamon Hunters (World of Warcraft)") to target the WoW page. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 14:19, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear what this has to do with the target page Pakistan Workers' Federation. I could not find any evidence that Pakistan Transport & General Workers' Federation ever existed. Deserves its own page, especially since no other Agathidium species redirect to the genus page.Vaporwaveboyfriend (talk) 08:42, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I've fixed the template above and tagged the redirect. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 09:47, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Either Restore the stub article in the page history, or Delete to encourage article creation per WP:Redlink. All species are assumed inherently notable enough for a stand alone article per WP:NSPECIES so this should not be a redirect. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 10:55, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • Procedural Close. Subject of discussion is no longer a redirect. 86.23.109.101 (talk) 13:17, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Deserving its own page is not a reason to delete a redirect. It is a valid species (as far as I know) and can have its own page. It once had its own very brief stub article, but this was merged by IceKarma (talk · contribs) into a single article covering three beetles in the genus named after politicians of the era. This was subsequently moved to the genus name and expanded. Nothing to stop anyone creating a new article about this species although I'm not a huge fan of the one-liner "... is a beetle." articles. The redirect target contains information specifically about this species, so it seems like a good target as long as there is no separate article. Lithopsian (talk) 16:38, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, CycloneYoris talk! 08:20, 9 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. "Deserves its own page" and WP:REDLINK are not standalone reasons to delete a redirect. It's a redirect with possibilities which is perfectly valid. Expanding it into its own article is also valid, which anyone is free to do if there is some meaningful content to write about the species. Adumbrativus (talk) 01:03, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Procedural listing. Brief recap: Sandstein closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Squad (app), which was then brought to Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2021 February 27#Squad (app) (closed) by Cunard. My closure of the DRV was contested by Sandstein. Instead of having another argument over procedure, I think it would be simplest to have a fresh discussion on the merits over whether Squad (app) should remain a redirect or be deleted, now that AfD has determined that it should not have its own article.
